I had the honor of meeting former President Jimmy Carter 3 times. Once, when I was working for Walter Cronkite, once, when I did a segment about Habitat for Humanity and once, (pictured below) randomly on an airplane. He came down the aisle and shook hands with anyone who wanted. He was a genuinely a good man and had the morals and class that we used to demand in a president. How far we have fallen.

The two week shoot is over, we just left Lviv in a train heading to Warsaw. The air raid alarms were going off as we drove to the train station in Lviv. A couple more hours and we’ll be safe in Poland.

I took this video a couple of nights ago in Kyiv. We are in Vinnytsia now and were just woken at 7:00 by an alert. They set them off whenever a drone or missile is launched from Russia towards your area. The people here pretty much have to ignore them or they’d go crazy. A drone hit about a mile from us while we were in a school the other night. We all heard it, but there’s nothing you can do.

It’s 3:30 AM we were just awakened by air raid, sirens and alerts on our phones. Apparently there were drones coming in, but after 15 minutes, we received an all clear that the drones had been neutralized. I can’t imagine living this way everyday. 🥲

We made it! We passed customs in Poland and Ukraine. It was tough getting everything loaded. It was about 100 yards from the curb to our train and they didn’t have any carts. So we set up a line of someone watching the stuff at the curb and some staying with the stuff on the deck near the train and the rest of us carrying boxes from the curb to the deck. It was a work out but we made it. It’s an 18 hour train ride in 2 very packed sleeper cars but we’re on board and in Ukraine! 🇺🇦 Yay!

I arrived in Warsaw and was happy to find 9 large boxes waiting for me at the hotel. They also had the train tickets to Kiev, Ukraine for tomorrow night. First hurdles cleared! Thank you Celestron for the telescopes!

I am heading to Warsaw today and then to Ukraine on Monday. I'll be shooting in about 8 cities in Ukraine for the next two weeks for my documentary "Hope in the Darkness". We are taking telescopes to give to students who have requested them because they can see so many new stars in the black outs and power outages. I am traveling with 4 Astronomers who will be showing them how to set them up and find stars and planets. We are so impressed that these brave kids still have hopes for the future after dealing with Covid followed by the unprovoked attack on their country by Russia. I'll send updates and the trip goes on.

Shooting video from a helicopter for a new possible series. I love hanging out of a helicopter and taking aerial footage. I don’t get To do it as often now that I have a drone. Thank you to Janna Jackson my talented pilot and potential series host.

We have been in preproduction on a new documentary, "Hope in the Darkness" and it just officially moved into production. We will be heading to LA later this month for a shoot and then to Ukraine in early November for 14 days of filming.
We are working with the nonprofit "Astronomers for Equity". They had received requests from students in Ukraine for telescopes. Because of darkness created by all the power outages and blackouts the students can see more stars than they ever could before. We will be traveling with three scientist as they deliver the telescopes and teach the students how to use them and find and track stars and planets in the night sky. After years of Covid these students went immediately into being attacked by Russia. We are so encouraged by their bravery and steadfast desire to learn and dream. My Co-Producer on the film "If You Tell Anyone", Norman Fried came over tonight to celebrate our new Telly Award. It's my newest addition to the trophy case. We missed our third Co-Producer as he's in LA right now but a shout out to Nathan Spiteri! Congratulations to both of my Co-Producers on a film we can all be proud of!

I spent the day on the Warner Brothers lot for the Cinegear Expo today. So much new technology and some really nice gear. It was a fun and informative day!
