Robischon Gallery artist Nikki Lindt investigates a connection to place and reveals an empathy towards the broader ecosystem through the use of various mediums, including painting, drawing, and sound work. Nikki Lindt’s ‘Dis Place’ paintings are now on view at Robischon Gallery as a part of INTERVALS, from her series ‘Solastalgia’ - a term describing the feeling of loss of place due to climate change and development. Lindt’s depictions of the active, lone figure in nature; climbing, working, hiking, portrays the intricate relationship between humans and their environment. While Lindt often symbolically illuminates an individual’s connection within a remote western landscape, in her simultaneous series, the artist also explores various New York underground sounds - recordings intended to offer a universally minded perspective on environmental issues. Through her use of representational abstraction, vibrant colors, dynamic forms, thoughtful juxtapositions, and sound, Lindt seeks to evoke a sense of wonder while creating an intimate dialogue between beauty and environmental awareness.
