Forever Buzzing The Tower In Tongues...

On Sunday, November 24, at 2pm, we will be hosting a special installment of Two Hours In Tongues on East Village Radio with special guest Reuben Lorch-Miller, to coincide with “Isolation Party: Photographs from the Olympia, Washington Music Scene, 1993-1995” on display at in Brooklyn. The show opens November 23 and runs through January 4, with an artist talk on December 14 and an additional celebratory performance, the details of which are forthcoming.
Sunday’s radio program will consist of and Mr. Mike spinning records that help tell a story that started before Reuben picked up a camera or an instrument and continues to this day. Wallowing in nostalgia* will not be tolerated! Celebrating the here/there & now, along with what laid the foundation and what lies ahead, is how we’re tuning this thing.
*that being said, you certainly can expect old favorites and deep cuts from the world(s) captured in Reuben’s work to be played loudly and lovingly. Lorch-Miller’s photos have featured prominently on releases from labels like Kill Rock Stars, , Yoyo, among others, and has more recently been included in the deluxe archival editions of imprints like Numero Group.
We may even get a or story or two.
As Reuben puts it: “This is not a story about me, but about a group of people who were and continue to be part of an interdependent web. This project has always been driven by the energy of friendship. Do-it-Yourself does not mean Do-it-by-Yourself.”
