Destructors Club(ft. Mark Stewart, Lee “Scratch” Perry, etc) debut 12” up for preorder!
“Destructors Club meets Scientist” is the first release from The Destructors Club, a group helmed by veteran musician/producer Britt Robisheaux, that explores a long-running passion for post-punk and dub and features collaborations from pioneers of both genres, such as Mark Stewart of #ThePopGroup, Lee “Scratch” Perry, #BigYouth, and of course, Scientist himself.
Backed by players from ground-breaking and perhaps unlikely groups like Bedhead and Sub Oslo, The Destructors Club cover a wide expanse of sonic territory, with both a reverence for the rich musical histories contained within and a willingness to upset preconceived notions.
Presented as an introduction to the group, this 12” features original songs produced by Robisheaux on one side with Scientist‘s corresponding mixes, the type that can only be concocted in the dub innovator’s laboratory, on the other.
While there is great sadness in the fact that two prominent members of this radical musical collective left us before the work of The #DestructorsClub could be shared, their profound impact lives on in this music and is sure to be present in future offerings. Mark Stewart’s relentless pursuit of progress and disruption is central to the mission of The Destructors Club. #LeeScratchPerry truly had a one-of-a-kind approach to art and sound, and an unmatched spirit. That too, is felt deeply in these tracks.
Mark was a huge inspiration to us at SGG, as an artist and provocateur. To celebrate Mark’s life, his crucial work, and his joyously radical legacy, we announced the launch of this very special project on the recent anniversary of his passing, with a vinyl release arriving May 31.
Britt and his Destructors Club cohorts honor his memory with their continued journey down his unique path.
Future works from The Destructors Club, including an impending full-length LP, are in the works, and we can expect further adventures in unorthodox #dub and beyond.”
