DEAD: Cadillac XT4 😢

I had the chance to drive the 2024 facelift for a week this year and it was a blast, I even drove it on a ski trip and it handles snow well. But now, the XT4 will be ending production at the Fairfax, Kansas plant in January 2025. But why?

Well the plant also builds the Chevy Malibu which also is ending production. In the near future, the Fairfax plant will transition to building the next generation Chevy Bolt EV. The XT4 has been on sale for around 7 years now and sales have declined in 2024 by 12%. But the 2024 facelift is impressive: a massive curved display, fresh styling, interior enhancements and more.

This clearly wasn’t enough to keep it alive. The cheapest Cadillac SUV will be no more, and 1,700 jobs will be lost at the Fairfax site until late 2025 when Bolt production starts.

CONFIRMED: Mazda Iconic SP Production 🇯🇵

[11-7-24 /// ] SUV money has paid off, it’s time to unleash Mazda’s engineers full potential. A special team of 36 has been formed to develop rotary engines after being disbanded 6 years ago. And now mazda’s design chief has confirmed the gorgeous Iconic SP will enter production likely before 2030. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🏁 Spec Sheet: The Mazda SP Concept we see above received world wide praise for its design and innovative powertrain: A rotary hybrid making 365HP, weighing 3,197lbs and just 72 in long. But it is “bigger than it needs to be” as Mazda said: if/ and when/ it enters production, it would be lighter, and the size of a Miata. 🏁

The CEO said the new department will “make breakthroughs in the challenges of the carbon-neutral era.” This means using these engines more to expand their range extender EV lineup, possibly build hydrogen powered rotary combustion engines, biodiesel and more.

Mazda also has reiterated that they are intentionally delaying their EV plans to instead follow the best technology that emerges in the coming years and work on alternatives to EVs, continue producing efficient combusiton engines and PHEVS. And it’s working well.

-It is VERY wide, take note when parking or driving in urban areas.
-For such a high price, it would be nice to see power boosted a bit more.

8/10 Price aside, the Bronco Raptor is heaps of fun and is worthy of the Raptor name.

Officially called the E53 Hybrid 4Matic+, It starts at $88,000 before including the $1,150 destination fee. Official: 2026 Kia Sportage 😳

Meet the 2026 Sportage facelift. What’s new? Well upfront is a bold yet not as extreme facia as current. There also are new wheel options, new LED lights, and slightly revised taillights. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Spec Sheet: The 2026 Sportage is ditching the DCT thankfully for a normal 8-speed auto on the turbo engines. The 1.6L Turbo 4 makes 177HP in South Korea. The Hybrid gets 5HP more, pairing that engine to a 64HP eMotor. The PHEV is likely unchanged.

Safety systems have been enhanced with a new driver facing camera, steering wheel grip detection and updated ADAS. Hybrid models have improved regen braking too. Kia also focused on NVH, something I commented on our test Sportage over the summer. Kia stuffed more sound insulating material into the Sportage to fix this. Expect to see it in the US mid 2025.

$450k R34 GT-R: Built by Legends 🇯🇵

[11-5-24 /// ] Built by Legends has revealed a second reworked R34 Nissan GT-R for SEMA this year and it’s stunning. Finished in Bayside Blue, this $450k restomod started out stripped to the metal. Then the chassis is restored and reinforced along with adding new strut towers and welds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🏁 Spec Sheet: Under the hood, the original RB26 engine was replaced with a MINE MB7; a bored out 2.8L TT Inline-6 making 650HP, paired to a 6-speed manual. 🏁

TURBO AWD GR86 🇯🇵

[11-4-24 /// /// Image by: Toyota ] It’s no secret the GR86 is well, a Subaru. But this new GR86 concept aims to change that with a heart transplant. For this year’s SEMA, Toyota has revealed this wild concept finished in a Celica WRC livery. The exterior also features mudflats, a huge rear spoiler, hood mounted rally lights, and a unique exhaust placement out back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏁 Spec Sheet: So what’s under the hood? Well no boxer engine will be found here. Instead, Toyota took the 1.6L turbo 3-cylinder from the GR Corolla and shoved it in this GR86. This wasn’t easy as the 86’s chassis was designed for a boxer engine, aka a low flat engine. The 3 cylinder is considerably taller and requires a new subframe and much more. It makes 300HP and 273 lb-ft of torque. 🏁
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Abarth 600e 🦂⚡️

The Abarth 600e distinguishes itself from the normal 600e with unique styling, badges, and chassis tuning… including a new fake engine sound. It comes in 2 trims too: Turismo and the Scorpionissima, with the latter only having 1,949 units being sold. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Phantom Goldfinger: 1 of 1 🇬🇧

[10–25-24 /// /// Image by: Rolls Royce ] Rolls Royce spent three years to create this one off Phantom Goldfinger, and there is A LOT of gold in this beast. Celebrating 60 years of James Bond’s Goldfinger and their partnership with Rolls, this Phantom is meant to recreate the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville. This creation wears the same yellow & black paint scheme with an 18 carat gold plated Spirit of Ecstasy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

No price has been given but it’s already being delivered to a special collector.

Fiat 500e /// The Review ⚡️

[10-31-24 /// /// Image by: ] After some years of waiting, the 500e is here in the US and well.. isn’t selling as well as expected. Regardless, I genuinely enjoyed the charm and pep of this tiny EV. Though its high As Tested $37,595 price and around 141-160 miles of range isn’t catching on with many people. This Inspired by Music edition features a 7-Speaker JBL audio system and this Tuxedo Black over Cream design. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🏁 Spec Sheet: Powering the new 500e is a fully electric powertrain made up of a 42kWh battery pack producing 117HP & 162 lb-ft of torque. It can do around 141-160miles of range as I tested. It is also capable of 85kW DC fast charging going from 0% to 80% in 35min. A 11kW Level 2 full charge would take 4.25 hours which is impressive. Weight is 2,981lbs.

(The same time it takes a Sorento PHEV to fill its tiny 14kWh battery on a limited 3.5-3.7kW Level 2 charger )🏁

-A mild-hybrid combustion powertrain would surely boost sales, or increasing the battery size a bit.

7/10: The 500e is a complete project and if you have the side cash for a fantastic urban/city car, it works well. But for a majority of Americans, it comes across as a bit too small and out of budget.

The 2 / 4 surviving prototypes have been converted by Callum now and this example is stunning. Callum, Ian Callum’s own design and coachbuilding firm, also the designer of the Jaguar C-X75 itself, spent over 1,000 hours on the bodywork alone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏁 Spec Sheet: Powering this reimagined C-X75 is a 5.0L Supercharged V8 now paired to a 7-speed DCT.

The team aimed to reduce panel gaps, repainted in Willow green, new brushed aluminum window trim, polished grille, carbon accents… there’s A LOT. Callum also added an aero package to increase stability, including an air brake. The interior has been overhauled as well with a redesigned dash, switchgear, center console, new custom seats, and steering wheel. Here we find a bath of Green and Cream leather. It even has Apple CarPlay, digital mirror, A/C, and more. There even is a tweaked suspension and front lift. Of course, no price has been given.

HOW MUCH? 2025 Lincoln Navigator

The new Navi already is pricier than the $87,595 Escalade and $82,450 Infiniti QX80. Thanks to the elimination of the base Premiere trim, the Navigator now starts at Reserve, still a $4,300 increase compared to before. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Spec Sheet: Under the hood is nothing new unfortunately as it would’ve been nice to see a new powertrain or even a hybrid variant. But the powerful 3.5L TwinTurbo V6 remains though is rated at 440HP and 510 lb-ft of torque instead of the 450HP as before. There is also a new adaptive air suspension and damping system with around 12 sensors and road scanning cameras to adjust 100x a second.

Speaking of the interior, this space has been TOTALLY overhauled. Apart from the massive 48 inch display and smaller central touchscreen, it now enables full video & gaming viewing while parked. The first and second rows offer heating, cooling and massaging seats while the third row gains heated seats. Along with 14 USB ports, a new second row passenger infotainment system, hands free Lincoln Blue Cruise now features lane change and intersection assist. Black Label models now get new 30 way seats along with a major interior quality overhaul with crystal controls, new wood and metal inlays, and a 28 speaker 3D audio system.

BREAKING: Kia Tasman

[10-29-24 /// /// Image by Kia ] Kia has revealed the Tasman, their BOLD styled new midsize pickup truck. Is it coming to the US? Well, at launch, the Tasman will debut next year in Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East. Kia would have to build the Tasman in the US to avoid the 25% tariff. And visually, maybe it could marinate outside the US for a bit longer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Spec Sheet: The all new Tasman rides on a body on frame chassis with 2 engine options at launch. These include a 2.5Ll Turbo 4 making 277HP and 311 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.2L Turbo diesel making 207HP and 325 lb-ft of torque. Both are paired to an 8 speed auto or a 6-speed manual in the diesel. 4WD and RWD are on offer. The Tasman can carry up to 2,635lbs of payload and tow up to 7,716lbs.

The design is very boxy, with vertical LED lights, thick bumpers, and thankfully a host of accessories to cover some of it up. The Tasman features a standard double cab with chassis cab options. There also is up to 9.9 inches of ground clearance. Inside thankfully isn’t as polarizing. Here we find dual 12.3 inch screens, a climate screen, and more. Fun bits include a folding interior table, under seat storage.
