📣Call for Volunteers for 1/20-1/24📣
Volunteer signup sheet link in bio!

We are seeking volunteers to help assemble this year’s From Chinatown, With Love calendar! This year the calendar provides much-needed mutual aid to 12 businesses that are within a 2-block radius of the Manhattan Detention Center construction site. ❤️‍🩹 We can’t wait to share more soon!

Volunteers will get a free calendar! Once you sign up we will email everyone with a google sheet that keeps track of scheduling. There’s limited space so in the event that volunteer slots fill up we will close the form and notify everyone.

*MASKS REQUIRED* We have masks available at the studio. Location: 20 jay street unit 217 2nd floor, in DUMBO

Volunteers will be tasked to do the following:
* Folding zines
* Cutting zines
* Tying knots
* Collating (putting pages in order)
* Hole-punching
* Packaging zines/calendar into cellophane slip

Time slots are listed in the forms. Each slot is 3 hours long, and we will prioritize people who can stay for the whole duration of the shift.

About From Chinatown, With Love:
Abrons Arts Center and the W.O.W. Project have come together to celebrate the Year of the Wood Dragon with the fifth edition of From Chinatown, With Love, a Lunar New Year calendar illustrated by Amanda Chung, Banyi Huang, Clae Lu, Jen Louie, Anson Lee, and Joy Freund. We are thrilled to be partnering with Lucky Risograph again this year to design, print, and co-host our public programming for this year’s iteration of From Chinatown, With Love.

”DIMENSIONS" is a collaborative project from Secret Riso Club. Through interviews with 10 artist publishers across the world, the group maps out the tangible and intangible dimensions of their practices and works to make the invisible aspects of independent publishing visible. How do independent publishers and artists spend their hours and days? What are the connections, resources, research, reflection, and administrative labor that shape and form the body of work?

After taking a year off from calendars we’re back for 2024!!

We are so excited to finally share a sneak peek of this calendar; Rachel has been working on it since January! For this year’s calendar, she used the airbrush to make the artwork achieve a soft diffused glow, which was nicely replicated through risograph printing in calendar form. We couldn’t have been more pleased with this collaboration, and we can’t wait for you to see the rest!

Designed by Amanda and Lucy
Risograph Printed, Spiral Bound, Printed on 80lb cover stock
Dimensions: 8" X 9.25"
Monthly calendar grid with space to write down important dates and notes!
Artwork for each month is printed in different 4-color combinations.

*Pre-orders will run until 11/12 and ship out the first week of December*

This paper collage and zine making risograph workshop is a part of a series where we will explore how different analogue mediums can translate into risograph printing.

By the end of the workshop, you will go home with the following:

• A constructed room zine
• ~5 copies of your own print
• An edition of everyone else’s room print

“working_hours/ is a zine that contains the source code for a time-based poem, which only becomes legible after a user manually transcribes the work as instructed.

The poem documents feelings of uncertainty—amplified by the pandemic and the rise of anti-Asian violence—as I wonder if I will ever be able to see my distant family again, and as I begin to feel older than my age."

Tyler Yin .yn is an artist and technologist currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. His work layers themes of perception, obfuscation, and labor into various forms—including zines, processed imagery, and interactive media. He is also the cofounder and organizer for Tiny Tech Zines .la

Visit us today and tomorrow excited to see you all there!
