Benji wasn't just a pet — he was my heart, my comfort, my family. I rescued him as a kitten when I was drowning in grief after losing my father. My husband never understood. He called my bond with Benji "weird." But I never imagined he and his mother would take things this far.
I returned from a short trip with my girls, but the house was eerily silent. No paws running to greet me. No purring. My heart pounded as I searched.

I turned to my MIL, smirking at the table. "Where is my cat?"

I’m a single mom, just me and my son. Recently, I met this guy online, and we hit it off, so we decided to meet up.

Jason and I had been together for 15 years. When his parents kicked him out when he was 17, my family took him in, helped him finish high school, and supported him, but we've never been officially married.
Ten years ago, Jason saved enough to purchase a house. Four years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer, and as his health declined, I stepped in to help pay the mortgage.

My son Nathan finally made the decision to marry. I was glad — he was my only child, and I had to be sure he would settle down before I passed away. He didn't know I had only one year left…
The engagement was at a lavish venue, with decorations and live music. At the center of it all was his fiancée, a stunning brunette. Everything was perfect.

Friday night, my husband Mark left his phone on the counter while he was upstairs. I was folding laundry when my 5-year-old daughter, Lisa, ran up to me, holding it.
