This is Jesse, he is a drifter who lives near the bridge in my area. He owns nothin but a bike, a bird and a bag of about 10 items!
Yesterday, while I was riding my bike down around the beach – which is about 5km from my house – I got a flat tyre. I had no choice but to turn around and wheel my bike the long walk home.
A few people rode past and didn’t really pay me any attention and I didn’t expect them too, but as I started walking, headphones in my ears, I noticed the homeless guy from under the bridge saying something to me. At first I thought he was going to ask me for something so I popped my headphones out and asked him what he wanted? He then replied “I don’t want anything bra but I’ve got a new tube in my bag and you can have it if ya want!” Shocked at first I said no thanks but he insisted. So I walked over to his little clearing where he had his things and his pet bird sat in a busted cage.
He opened up his empty bag and gave me the tube (which was one of the very few things he had) helped me change the tyre, even pumped it up! I asked him how I could pay him back and he said to me “don’t worry about it bra, this is what it’s all about!”
The enormity of his situation and the fact that he went out of his way to help me was so humbling, I mean this guy was willing to give me his stuff and didn’t want anything in return. To you and I, a bike tube would probably not mean much but to a guy with so little this item must hold enormous value!
I could go on and on about how selfless this guy was to give me, a total stranger, clearly in a much better position than him some of his possessions, while people like us are so selfishly attached to all our useless crap.
Anyway I just wanted to show you a pic of Jesse with his new Versace lenses, some fresh Sneakers, a full belly and a cold beer… Felt good to do something for the bloke. I also went up to woollies and got him a couple weeks worth of food and some seed for his bird lol…
Man he was ecstatic even had tears in his eyes and couldn’t thank me enough, but amidst me sitting there proud of my good deed, and him singing me praises, I suddenly felt pretty bad because the truth is if he didn’t go out of his way to help me, I wouldn’t of done anything for him.
I ride past this guy all the time and never even think twice!
Really knocked me off my high horse!
Even tho we sit around with all our materialistic needs and pass judgment, this dude has something that none of us can buy!
I guess what I’m trying to say is thanks for the lesson in humanity champ!

Did you know that the Coronado Bridge, located in San Diego, California, is an iconic concrete arch bridge that connects the city of San Diego with Coronado Island? Opened in 1969, it spans 3.4 km (2.1 miles) and rises 61 meters (200 feet) above San Diego Bay at its highest point, allowing large vessels to pass underneath.
Its curved, arched design was intended to extend the length of the bridge and avoid a steep incline, making it easier for vehicles to cross. This bridge is an important architectural symbol for the region and offers spectacular panoramic views of the bay, downtown San Diego, and the Pacific Ocean.

Unearthing a Wonder: The Ziggurat of Ur!

This "before and after" photo shows the incredible discovery of the Ziggurat of Ur in Mesopotamia. Built around 3800 BC by King Ur-Nammu, it's the very first ziggurat ever constructed!

Ziggurats were massive temple structures, and this one served as the heart of the Sumerian city of Ur. King Ur-Nammu is also credited with creating the first legal codes in history.

What other ancient wonders do you think are waiting to be unearthed?

1956– A family road trip from Sydney to Paris, 12,000 miles by Lambretta, with a stop to pose before the iconic Gateway of India.

The trip took over two months— starting 3,000 miles across Australia— through India, Pakistan, Persia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey – then into Greece, and across Europe (Yugoslavia and Italy) to France.

This is Jim Thorpe, the first Native American to win an Olympic gold medal for his country. Looking closely at this photo, you can see he wear different socks and shoes. Not because of his fashion sense. This photo was taken in 1912, when Jim, a Native American from Oklahoma, represented the United States in athletics at the Olympics that summer.
On the morning of the match, his shoes were stolen. Luckily, Jim found two different shoes in a trash can. Those are the two shoes he is wearing in the photo. But one of those shoes was a little too big, so he had to put on a few more socks.
Wearing these clunky shoes, Jim won two gold medals that day. The person who stole the shoes must have not expected that instead of causing him to fail, they would bring him glory. This is a reminder to all of us that we can overcome any difficulty in life if we try

The Zammit family from Sydney, Australia, gained fame for their unwavering refusal to sell their cherished five-acre property, even in the face of offers as high as $50 million. As developers built new residential neighborhoods around them, roads curved to avoid their land, highlighting its prominence and the family's determination.

Despite relentless offers and mounting pressure, the Zammits stood firm, prioritizing their deep connection to the land over any financial gain. Their story is a rare testament to holding onto one's roots against overwhelming commercial interests. Over the years, their home became a symbol of resilience, embodying their steadfast spirit as they resisted the temptation of massive financial offers.

This defiance captured public attention, with many admiring the Zammits' commitment to preserving a piece of land imbued with sentimental and personal value, even as their surroundings transformed dramatically. Their tale is an inspiring reminder that some things are simply priceless.

The Cosmonaut who was stuck in space for 311 days, 1991
Sergei Krikalev was a Soviet cosmonaut who was stuck in space onboard a Soviet space station called "The Mir". Krikalev is a veteran cosmonaut, who spent a total of 803 days, 9 hours and 39 minutes in total in outer space.
On December 26th 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed while Krikalev was still in Space. Due to the political complications that occured during the dissolution of the USSR, Krikalev spent 311 days in space. Eventually, he returned to Earth on March 25th, 1992. Due to him being away from Earth's gravity for so long, as well as time dilation, he is 0.02 seconds older than people born at the same time as him. He is commonly referred to as "The Last Soviet Citizen". He has been retired since 2007.

IMPOSSIBLE ENGINEERING IN OUR DISTANT PAST..
Giant granite parallelepipeds, weighing several tons, moved inside tunnels so narrow that they do not allow wheels to be inserted under them, do not allow winches to be used to lift them, do not allow them to be turned in any way. Underneath the parallelepipeds there is no sign that sleds, wheels, grease, or anything like that were used...
Yet a dozen of these objects were lowered underground, moved in those very narrow tunnels, and lowered into side crypts several meters deep. Even the idea that they first built the parallelepipeds and then constructed the building fell apart, since the whole structure was dug underground, like a giant anthill...
And although it's pitch black down there, nowhere is there a trace of the smoke from the flashlights, and it's not possible to make light reach inside with a play of mirrors. There is a historical "yellow" as well. The very few hieroglyphs engraved on a few parallelepipeds are both inaccurate and wrong! Conversely, the interior of the parallelepipeds is constructed with a margin of error of less than a millimeter. As if someone, who knows when, made a clumsy attempt to make this stuff look "Egyptian" and then gave it up. The difference between the "amateurs" who carved those few sketches of hieroglyphs and the engineering perfection of everything else, leaps to the eye...
The Saqqara Serapeum hits us like a punch in the stomach, because there is no plausible explanation, not even one, as to how they managed to build it. Those objects are one of the great evidences that, before the Egyptians we know, there was a civilization in those places that knew its stuff about how to work huge slabs of granite with pinpoint accuracy, and how to move huge loads in conditions bordering on the impossible. Who were these amazing engineers of the past?

Picture this: Atlit Yam, a submerged Neolithic village that has been lying dormant for 9,000 years off the coast of Israel. Yes, you heard that right—dating back to 6900-6300 BC, this remarkably preserved site stretches over 10 acres, submerged at depths of 26 to 40 feet. Discovered in 1984, it’s not just a vague relic of the past; it’s a treasure trove of stone houses, ancient wells—some of the earliest we’ve unearthed—and over 100 human skeletons. Talk about a haunting glimpse into our ancestors' lives! The artifacts and remains found here scream of survival, ingenuity, and daily existence in a time when modern civilization was just a distant dream. Atlit Yam isn’t merely an archaeological site; it shatters illusions, revealing the gritty realities and complexities of early human life long before we ever thought we knew anything about it.
