The de Blasio administration and the City Council want to slow the growth in new black car licenses over the next year. With companies like Uber adding tens of thousands of black cars to the mix over the past few years, mainly in the most congested parts of Manhattan, the city wants to get a better…

A fight has erupted over trucks on the East Side, as the city Department of Sanitation plans for a new garage for 180 of its trucks.

Thanks to area residents and concerned citizens for such a great turnout tonight at the Sanitation's public session. Council Member Daniel Garodnick challenged the Department of Sanitation to answer the public's most pressing concerns, including adherence to Mayor Bill de Blasio's Vision Zero mandates, assurances of pedestrian safety, and critical health issues. Council Member Rosie Mendez 2013 presented 8 pages of questions about significant impacts that the project poses and insisted on answers.

The community spoke with one voice in its opposition. The fight continues!

Please join fellow area residents and attend this Wednesday's (July 15) important public meeting with the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) at 6 PM at the Brookdale Auditorium, 425 East 25th St (between 1st Avenue and FDR, enter at Brookdale Security Gate)

It is critically important that the DSNY (Department of Sanitation) addresses all concerns over the next few months as they draft their environmental impact study. DSNY needs to see the community's growing resolve and hear our concerns, including:

- Size of garage
- Air Quality/Unacceptable Health Risk
- Pedestrian Risk (contrary to Vision Zero for Safe Streets)
- Increased Gridlock

EVERY SINGLE PERSON COUNTS! Please attend this meeting and let your voice be heard.
