Located within the 40-acre lands surrounding the Moffat Estate Mansion in Covington Twp., Moffat Park is a recreation site open to the public. A stream with a covered bridge, a pond and a screened gazebo can be found within its nature area.

Not the greatest picture, but this Potterville, Michigan barn is impressive. It's hard to get a good shot from the front because it's on a busy highway and there are lots of power line in front that are very distracting. From this angle though, you can see the very unique conjoined twin silos!

Below are my (non-scientific) choices for “most friendly” Amish communities. And here’s my disclaimer: Obviously, I haven’t been to every Amish settlement (there are around 600).

But I’ve been to nearly all the largest ones, and quite a few of the smaller, covering many affiliations–over 50 communities in all. And in many of them, I’ve met dozens if not hundreds of people, by virtue of a job I once had (selling Bible story books). Enough to form an impression.

Which are the most friendly Amish communities? Yes, to answer that question we do have to generalize. But I think it’s true that Amish communities can take on a certain character.

I think that’s in part due to the quality of the photography, but the home is very neat with a lot of nice woodwork and furniture, crisp colors, and has a classic Amish look to it.
