In Being and the Sea, she advocates for a shift from a rigid, earth-centered worldview to a new ecological existentialism that think of the Earth from the point of view of the sea.
By challenging the “solid ontology” of thinkers like Sartre, she introduces a “liquid ontology” that critiques the exploitative mindset toward nature and emphasizes the interconnectedness of all life.
Corine Pelluchon raises essential questions about how embracing the ocean's significance can reshape our understanding of humanity, politics, and ecology.

Charles Stépanoff, through various disciplines, explores these connections. He rethinks domestication, hierarchies, and early states. His work shows how connection drives our relationship with the world. His insights reveal how deeply our ability to connect influences our relationship with the environment.

🇫🇷 FPA'S TRIP TO PARIS
ℝ𝕖𝕗𝕝𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕠𝕟 𝕒𝕟 𝕚𝕟𝕤𝕡𝕚𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕨𝕖𝕖𝕜... 🚀
Back in NYC with our mind buzzing with new ideas and enriched by exclusive meetings. Pascale and I are eagerly anticipating the upcoming months, especially with the Rentrée Littéraire in September.
Despite the chilly Spring, the Paris Book Market was a lively event. Two intense days of networking spilled over into the charming cafes of Rue de Turenne in the vibrant 11th arrondissement.
This year, in addition to our existing clients, we were thrilled to meet new publishers from Morocco (Editions le Fennec), Lebanon (@L'Orient des livres), Algeria (@Editions Frantz Fanon) , Belgium (@Éditions M.E.O.) and Switzerland (@Éditions Slatkine ).
We also discovered the rich and diverse catalogs of the publishers who were in attendance among them @Éditions Hermann, @Manuella Editions, and @Le Cavalier Bleu Éditions.
A special mention to @Éditions Passiflore who shared the success of 𝘓’𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, the short novel they published and which has already been translated into eight languages and adapted for cinema, theater, a dance performance, and comic strips.
At FPA, we're excited about the prospect of earning the trust of these publishers and partnering with them to represent their titles!
The perfect time also to discuss forthcoming titles for the Rentrée Littéraire, we’re expecting a big influx of manuscripts. The evenings were just as vibrant, starting with BIEF’s splash and continuing with some publishers's Rentrée Littéraire presentations we were able to attend by extending our stay to the following week of the Paris Book Market.
We had the chance to discover compelling works from debut novelists addressing themes of family history, identity, and multicultural generations—stories that promise to resonate with the US market.
