ABFE’s Black Communities Funders Network has released a statement, “Investing in Black-Led Funds to Advance Equity and Justice,” underscoring the urgent need for the philanthropic sector to take bold, consistent, and sustained action to support Black-led funds and Black communities in the face of ongoing political and philanthropic retrenchment. The Black Communities Funders Network is a national network of Black fund leaders at community foundations, intermediary organizations, and collaborative funds designed to support Black communities and Black-led organizations.

This is about repair, justice, and fortifying our collective future. ABFE’s Black Communities Funders Network stands ready to support philanthropy in advancing this vision, and invites funders across the sector to join us in this critical work.

In these crucial times, we are reminded that wellness is not separate from the work—it is essential to it. This year’s Black Women in Philanthropy Leadership Retreat stood as an essential space for restoration, sisterhood, and strength—and we are so thankful to all who came together for our 2025 retreat.

In our recently released article, “Rooted in Sisterhood: Reflections from the Black Women in Philanthropy Retreat”, 2025 retreat attendees and ABFE Members Tee Weaver, Financial Coach and CEO of The FLY Foundation, and Leslie Young-Martin, Senior Program Officer at The Wege Foundation, share how this year’s retreat renewed their strength and fortified their leadership.
