, April 9, Xul Solar passed away in 1963. Oscar Agustín Alejandro Schulz Solari, also known as Xul Solar, was an artist from Argentina. He liked to paint, sculpt, write, and make music. Solar was important for new and different kinds of art in Argentina. He showed his art in many places and had friends who were writers. He was also part of a group called the Florida group, where artists and writers talked about new ideas for art and writing.

In 1967, Magritte created 8 surrealist bronze sculptures which were casted in a foundry in Verona , Italy. For each sculpture, he created the sketches which would be the basis of the wax casts. The sculptures were titled after the paintings that inspired their subjects. Although he passed in 1967 before the sculptures were cast in bronze, he signed the wax models and saw the first proofs for each sculpture. The sculptures were first exhibited in Brussels in the Isy Brachot Gallery in 1968.
