Today and tomorrow (Dec. 15 and 16, 2019), I am offering a fun little ebook on citrus, free, on amazon.com. It is a concise guide to growing and using citrus. There is a lot of info about the different types of citrus and also the many recipes and uses, even for the flowers and the peels. One reader complained that there was not enough info on how to grow, but basically all the main types of citrus grow the same way! They are all closely related. I am so very sorry to announce that expert rock gardener and wonderful person Rex Murfitt died recently at the age of 92. He will be missed by many people. He was a member of the North American Rock Garden Society since 1968, and for a time was also a member of the Garden Writers Association. He studied rock gardening as a young man in the UK at Ingwersen's nursery. Later he was head gardener at Stonecrop in New York (Frank Cabot then owned it), and then with wife Ruth moved to Victoria on Vancouver Island, where he worked as a horticulturist. He had a lovely rock garden and alpine houses there.

I worked with him on publishing two books, Creating and Planting Garden Troughs and Creating and Planting Alpine Gardens. (www.mackeybooks.com)

In his articles on rock garden plants for the NARGS quarterly, his many lectures, his engaging interactions at plant society meetings, and his books, he was an important contributor to the world of plants and rock gardening.
