New release from Icarus Films! MY WORST ENEMY (2025)
Learn more 🔗 icarusfilms.com/if-mywor

Filmmaker Mehran Tamadon is an Iranian in exile, living in France. For years, he was able to travel back and forth between the two countries. Then, in 2012, he was warned that coming back would mean prison, torture — or worse.

Seeking to understand the mindset of the torturers, and the experience of Iranians who have suffered at their hands, Tamadon comes up with a plan: He’ll ask a fellow Iranian emigrant to interrogate him, pushing him to the limit. Ultimately, Mehran hopes to return to Iran with his film, and show it to real torturers as a way to spark recognition of how far they have drifted from their basic humanity.

Celebrated actress Zar Amir Ebrahimi (awarded Best Actress at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Ali Abbasi's Holy Spider) takes up the offer, interrogating Mehran over two intense days. But as MY WORST ENEMY progresses, it raises uncomfortable questions for everyone involved.

Rehad Desai's TIME OF PANDEMICS is "a powerful call to action!" (The New Context).

As the Trump administration purges U.S. government websites of federal health data, and the CDC pulls back from new research, the dangers of denying science and repeating history cannot be understated.

When COVID-19 first appeared, South African filmmaker Rehad Desai was in the midst of making a film about a clinical trial for a vaccine that could end new AIDS infections. South Africa’s initial HIV response was slowed by science-denying politicians, along with global trade rules and corporate pharmaceutical greed that prevented those most in need from getting treatment. In Desai's film TIME OF PANDEMICS, he argues that the world has repeated many of these same mistakes with COVID-19.

Now with a whopping eight nominations to its name, Bob Dylan biopic A COMPLETE UNKNOWN follows Dylan's early folk music success and involvement with the Newport Folk Festival - including a tense relationship with American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax, in 1915.

Documentary LOMAX THE SONGHUNTER is insight into Lomax's legacy, telling the story of a man who devoted his life to recording the world's folk tunes before they would permanently disappear with the rise of the modern music industry. The film includes interviews with Lomax's friends such as Pete Seeger, archival recordings of music greats Woody Guthrie and Lead Belly, and footage of the cotton fields, rock quarries and prisons where captured America's quintessential music.
