Today the Gentlemen of Quality celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since 2004 the club has strived to operate under the principles of leadership, service, and scholarship. On behalf of this organization we’d like to thank all of the administration, supporters, and most importantly our members for making these 15 years possible. Let’s make the next 15 years just as a amazing 🙌🏾.

Shout out Kenny Oyewole 🎉

It’s never business as usual when it comes to our next Alum, Kenny Oyewole! A freshman at NYU Stern School of Business, Kenny serves as Cohort Director of the NYU Stern Student Council, a member of the Publicity and Events Committees, and participates in The Gentlemen of Quality, an inclusive group that focuses on fostering a community of minority men leading excellence on and off campus. This month, he will be traveling with his school to Israel and Palestine to explore intersectionality and inclusiveness, while delving into the narratives of people who live there. Kenny graduated from Curtis High School on Staten Island in 2018 after spending four years as a Global Kids Leader and serving on GK’s Board of Directors.

“Global Kids allowed me to explore my interest in international relations and expanded my knowledge more than I could ever imagine. They saw my potential, crafted me into a purposeful and determined individual, and encouraged me to state my mind on all matters when necessary, ultimately leading me to understand the importance of diversity and inclusivity in all schools, workplaces, and communities.”

Mentorship | Going off the theme of unpacking masculinity in our own meetings, we decided to bring the same lesson to our mentees at James Baldwin High school. We facilitated and participated in a mask activity unpacking the adjectives that people see from us vs. the ones that we hide and questioning why we hide parts of ourselves.

Spotlight of GQ’s own Logan Delgado ( ) | "Logan is one of the kindest and most involved people in the community and on campus overall. His official responsibilities include his roles as the Gentlemen of Quality's Cosponsorship Chair and member of Program Board's New Music and Concerts Committee. Logan is a co-host of the WNYU's new podcast, "Free Samples," where he flexes his immense knowledge of hip-hop and constantly strives to learn more with his audience. He is also currently heavily involved with the upcoming, entirely student-lead talk show project, "Views from NYU." If you know Logan (which everyone does) you know that after all these activities and his off-campus internship in the music industry, he is always there to listen to you and always genuinely interested in your experiences and what you have to say. He is constantly learning from and contributing to his communities. Shouts to Logan Delgado for being an overall great dude!"

Today marks our first day of mentorship for this semester. We went to James Baldwin High-school today to meet some new members of the mentorship program and had conversations about college readiness and making decisions to build your personal skill set both before and during college.

K.I.N.G.S. (Keep Inspiring and Nurturing a Gentleman's Spirit) is a time we take to honor and celebrate the influential men of color on campus. NYU is a school that is not defined by the traditional campus structure, therefore, we are constantly searching to create a greater sense of community that many feels are lacking. These gentlemen that we seek to recognize during K.I.N.G.S. are active participants in that quest. Please join us in celebrating all their hard work and dedication!
