KwaMashu born and raised, Zakes has become a star with classic South African hits, along with global Afro House anthems such as ‘Osama’, ‘iMali’ and ‘Asanda’. This will be a hybrid DJ set combined with his ethereal vocals. We’re in for a truly unique experience.

As we reflect on the past few months, we’re in constant awe of the shared energy no matter where we meet. May, June & July were more than just events for us, they were milestones. We brought our experience to some of the most legendary venues in New York & beyond.

In May we hosted our first Close Quarters pop-up series of the year at which was only announced 4 days prior, to a sold out night at our D.C. debut at , to then coming back home for our Daytime Experience at Silo, in New York… each time we left humbled and inspired.

June marked a significant time as we celebrated 2 Years of DESCENDANTS at home with our Brooklyn family

In July we carried the energy to our second home in Amsterdam and came right back to New York to our first rooftop experience at Elsewhere.

We couldn’t be more proud of the artists we had the privilege of hosting this year. Music is the most important part of shaping this experience, and you all brought your best and honored the sonic vision.

A special thank you to the 16 Africa-based artists on this list for being an integral part of this movement. We’ve always aimed to represent African Electronic music in its essence, and it wouldn’t be possible without the ones creating the music and paving the way for these global genres.

This is beyond numbers, it’s a testament to a community and experience we’ve created together, each event with its own unique qualities that make it so special. Music first. People first. Love first. This is the home of Afro Tech in New York. We’re forever grateful 🤲🏾

Blessings to our very special guest for giving this set every ounce of energy, wow!!! Bringing the unique sounds of Lusophone Afro Tech and delivering it with such passion.
