Andy Thorn | “How the patterns in nature echo into music”

The patterns inherent in nature are often the same patterns behind good music. When we lose our connection to the natural world, we lose access to the rhythms and patterns we need, to create melodies and songs that resonate with others. Artists are known for breaking rules, but we can’t just produce noise. We need structure. If we discover how critical these patterns are—how they satisfy our brains, how they help us connect with others—we might find another reason to protect them.

Coming 5.28.24

When it comes to climate change, there are two truths: 1) We are well past major tipping points and 2) the solutions are much further along than we realize—and cheaper, too.

In my new book, Cheaper, Faster, Better: How We’ll Win the Climate War, I tackle how everyone can do their part to shape a sustainable future for the planet and ourselves. I put a spotlight on the inspiring work of people on the front lines, whose innovative approaches provide hope for meaningful change, and explain how capitalism is a surprisingly effective tool for scaling climate progress.

You’ll see why the urgency to act is imperative. But while time is running out, I feel confident that we will win this fight, precisely because there has never before been a moment more necessary or more rewarding to come together.
