Product or brand without a face? I’ve got an idea for you💡
Built in communities for the win in my opinion!
Of course along with a new platform comes trying to figure it out and use it in a way that fits into your overall strategy and trying to understand it without wasting time.

Not me refreshing the app every 2 seconds...
People are excited! And for good reason. V1 of Instagram’s new text-based Threads app is prettttty great even if it’s still missing some core features.
If you’re like me you stayed up way past your bedtime last night playing around with Threads and laughing out loud at some of the posts.
Everyone’s a comedian, even the Instagram account has come unhinged, people are threading/stitching/sewing/knitting and we are all here for it.
This is by no means an extensive list, just my notes as I was playing around with the app.
Head to my bio or dm me the word THREADS to sign up for my FREE training
Thumbs up or down for Threads? Drop a 🧵 if you’re loving it too! I’ve loved connecting with you over there!

Honestly sometimes money talks and sometimes I remember how I was treated and I laugh about it now.
This was also the first role that I got laid off from as a direct consequence of someone else’s sh*tty actions.
When I’ve shared this story in the past so many women and fems have reached out to me to tell me their own similar stories.
Use this sound to share something that happened to you that broke you once but now makes you laugh in hindsight because you’re in a better place.
If you want to learn how to use Instagram to grow your following and increase your sales DM me the word SD and I’ll send you the link to check out my membership.
When you join, I’ll teach you how to grow your following in 90 days.

My whole job is to help women like you make it happen on Instagram!
something I’m noticing come up often with my members and clients is that you give up on something way too soon.
We’re so used to instant gratification - and instant disappointment - that we don’t give our content time to do it’s thing.
Reframe your thinking and see what happens!

I’m a perfectionist who is currently trying to recover from it…
Three years ago I would have been so ashamed and embarrassed to say that I got laid off.
And before that I would have never told you that I was laid off once before that…
The funny thing is that being laid off twice led me here.
Your content will suck at the start…the stories you tell will sound lame in your head.
Be okay with that and start telling your story anyway.
As my good friend @patricepoltzer says “Your stories have the power to shape the lives of those who listen to them.
You are all sitting on a superpower....now go use it!”
Did you know my story?

here’s what happened and some tips👇🏽
Having a really large following isn’t all it’s made out to be if you can’t monetize. And having a huge following doesn’t always translate to sales.
I recently read a story that actually made me feel for this person.
It was about an instagrammer who failed to sell 36 T-shirts to her 2.6 million followers.
A similar story I read came from the rapper Saweetie who has 13 million Instagram followers and receives thousands of likes on all her photos but her album sold less than 2000 copies. That’s crazy.
In the age of virality, and thinking that validation and credibility come from tiny hearts and eyes (aka views) here’s my advice:
🥐 Tip 1 - Don’t place all your focus on how many followers you have, but instead focus on your existing followers. You want to try to connect with this group first because they will be the ones who later recommend you, hire you and stick around long after the ones who arrived because of a viral post.
🥐 Tip 2 - If you have tried to DIY your business and you’re still struggling, don’t hesitate to invest in a social media manager. Just be sure to do your research first.
🥐 Tip 3 - If your content isn’t attached to a goal, don’t post. Instead write down your goals and work backgrounds to create content that aligns to them.
🥐 Tip 4 - Understand that Instagram is not a short term investment, but a long term investment that should be a part of your marketing efforts - not your only source of marketing.
🥐 Tip 5 - Never hire someone because of their follower count. Make sure they’re able to validate their expertise.
🥐 Tip 6 - Go easy on yourself.
P.S. If you’re looking for a place where you can get learn continously from me in a group setting with powerful women, you can join the waitlist for The Social Department in my bio. I open the doors again in early 2023.

How I manage my workweek when I’m traveling👇🏽
🥐 I don’t book any client calls
🥐 Plan a place with a yard, pool or activity for the kids - otherwise we get childcare. We had my parents from Vancouver with us this week 🥰
🥐 I bring a notebook, tripod, laptop and charger to keep it minimal
🥐 I work on one client per day for maximum focus
How do you work when you’re traveling?
Quick life update!
We left Lisbon mid April to head back North just over a month ago.
Since getting here we’ve experienced a little volcano 🌋 scare, and an earthquake but honestly the earthquake was only scary for about 3 seconds...
I am feeling so privileged to be able to work from anywhere in the world, running my own social media strategy business and providing for my family in ways I always knew I wanted to..
My husband is able to be a full-time dad and most recently has begun his own entrepreneurial journey (inspired by me - ha!)
We’ve now lived in 4 cities together: Berlin, New York, Lisbon and now CDMX.
If you didn’t know already I’m half Mexican, and it feels SO good to be where my roots are. I have so many memories of coming to Mexico every Christmas to visit my grandparents and our extended family. My mom was one of 11!
We never had family growing up around us in Vancouver so Mexico really holds a warm spot in my heart and soul. I’m so excited that my kids will get to experience it too.
Where are your roots from? Have you ever thought about living there?
I’d love to know 🥰

Here’s why this won’t help you👇🏽
The first few months of starting this account I posted a Reel talking about how I grew 10k followers in less than 90 days. It went viral.
When I reposted that video to Pinterest it also went viral.
At the time I didn’t know better. I thought I was helping people and showing my ability to grow organically on Instagram.
So why don’t I post these about my own growth on Instagram anymore?
Becuase it’s a little-known fact that accounts that talk about growing on Instagram usually grow faster.
It’s also not helpful because what works for me won’t necessarily work for you.
If I were to tell you that I posted 91 stories, 8 Reels, 1 Live and 12 posts it would take you down a path where you might think that is the “formula” for growth when really it’s not. There is no formula.
The only thing you can be 100% sure about is that if you post often and stick with it, you’ll see results.
I see countless coaches and influencers posting screenshots and metrics telling their audiences how they grew 30k in one month, 10k in 30 days, 100k in one year.
The truth is that it will never work for you.
That’s why you won’t see me posting that type of content here.
My purpose on here is to show you sustainable ways to grow your business using Instagram.
I’ve worked with hundreds and hundreds of individuals including founders, celebrities, small business owners, creatives, makers, influencers, products, nutiritionists, coaches and many more.
What I teach works and I know that what I teach you is ethical and won’t lead you down a path of frustration or burn out.
If this sounds like you - make sure you join my free community inside of Circle where you can connect with me and REAL people who are sharing ways to use Instagram as a tool to grow your business. I also share free templates, captions, hooks, calls to action and much much more. You can join in my bio or by dming me.
What do you feel when you see
I see this as a new way to get more engagement! It’s such a light lift and it also might explain all those glitches we’ve been seeing like not being able to see the comments underneath people’s posts lately.
What do you think??
