Design: Bardo Industries

OAX Original is a collaborative artistic endeavor presenting the distinctive flavors and raw beauty of wild agave through three limited-edition expressions: Arroqueño, Tobalá, and Tepeztate.

Each of the unique small batch mezcales is made from agave plants found in the semi-arid Central Valleys of Oaxaca, which average 12 to-25-years to reach maturity. Once foraged, the hearts of the agaves are slow-cooked in the ground with oak and mesquite, stone-ground by horse, then wild yeast fermented in pine barrels before being double distilled.

OAX is a multi-sensorial experience, where the bottle embodies the mezcal in touch and sight—from its raw texture recalling dirt, bricks and adobe, to the pure volumes that define its form, size, and surfaces, as well as their interaction with light and shadows.

Derived from the Parisian salon of Gertrude Stein, 27 Rue de Fleur is name of a bespoke floral design studio in Fort Smith, Arkansas that aspires to turn the southern state’s floral scene on its head. Aiming to evoke feelings of luxury and s*x appeal, the design serves as an invitation to the senses. Rich textures and sultry imagery combine to create a contemporary brand focused on offering a particular taste and experience unique to that of conventional florist.

The Public Spirit is a special breed of booze brand. They believe that no one should go hungry, so they turn good times into good deeds. Every bottle sold feeds four people in need. Studio Chong came in to reposition and rebrand the liquour brand, from a nice craft rum to an honest, unambiguous drink for the people. A top shelf bevvie that stands out because it stands for something important.

The Public Spirit is here to be enjoyed with friends, whilst embracing the spirit of kindness; gifting a perfect stranger a vital meal. Nobody knew they could feel this great the morning after the night before.

Driven by our desire to provide the best gourmet food for everyday living, our aim to inspire and excite the imagination of all food lovers. With products sourced and selected from around the globe, Hint is a private label focused on providing natural ingredients for your connivence.

APPROACH
We wanted to approach the food industry differently, it’s not just about what you see. To do this, our research pointed us to an audience that is encouraged to cook for themselves. Hint can be described as an action or the quantity of something. We developed a system that could explain both definitions. Our goal was to create packaging that would engage our audience to cook more and also look good doing it. All of our containers were selected carefully in order to take minimal space and for easy arrangement.

California Olive Ranch is the #1 brand of domestically produced extra virgin olive oil in the United States. The San Francisco Bay Area brand challenged us with seeing their redesign through on the brand’s identity and packaging design. In addition we delivered a library of brand assets which include a custom branded tagline graphic, flavor iconography, and packaging labels for an array of new products.

The new packaging design feels fresh, Californian, and is somewhat rooted back to the original labels to avoid confusion with loyal customers. To achieve this Design Womb designed a modernized interpretation of the rancher icon for the logo and carried over the existing color palette with subtle updates that feel vibrant and welcoming. The strategic use of a secondary color palette and special effects such as a gold foil, metallic ink, embossing, and premium papers helps draw a line between different product price points and keeps the branding cohesive.

California Olive Ranch's market share rose over 20% within the first 6 months of the new label and packaging launch in early 2016. The olive oil is sold at over 20,000 stores nationwide, including national retailers such as Target, Whole Foods, Costco, Kroger, Mariano's, Meijer, and more. You can also find their sample olive oil in Xela packs served in first class flights on JetBlue Airline.

Paris Baguette’s bakery cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants, serve high quality French- and Asian-influenced pastries in Asia and the United States. They have over 3,000 stores in South Korea and more than 70 stores in the United States. The Paris Baguette team approached us to concept and develop the look and feel of their coveted specialty gift boxes. It was important for the collection of boxes to feel unified yet unique in each variation. As part of this effort, we developed four characters that embodied the wit, whimsy, charm and elegance of the brand. To bring our characters to life in pencil drawing, we enlisted the support of illustrator, Catherine Moore. The boxes showcased here are one of our proposed design directions and vary slightly from the final produced product.

Client: Empress Family of Restaurants

Services: Brand Positioning, Visual Identity System, Brand Guidelines, Brand Story, Messaging and Taglines For Crafted Culture it was critical to spend a little extra time upfront developing a nuanced strategy to inform the branding.

Through the discovery process, we heard the specifics of what the clients envisioned — a comfortable, meet-up spot for the community that low-key conjured up San Diego pride. A lot of restaurants promise “craft” food and drinks but our goal was to convey the idea of “craft” and the hometown feeling of San Diego in one glance.

Our choice of fonts and colors reflected the clean iconic heritage of places like the Gaslamp Quarter and Sunset Cliffs, with a slight nod to Padres baseball nostalgia. In the end, the client was provided with a full set of guidelines for logo and identity use, including color palettes, fonts, and placement. We went wide with the application of brand graphics,

Marigold is a contemporary surf & turf restaurant, offering traditional American dishes with a modern twist. Opening in the heart of Las Vegas, Marigold harkens back to the city’s mid-century modern golden age in a celebration of the most colorful flavors, culture and history.

Owned and operated by a Las Vegas family who’s been in the hospitality business since the city’s inception, our clients asked tasked us with creating a modern, wholesome, and unpretentious brand that conveys authenticity and quality through design for both their restaurant Marigold and to-go area, Goldie’s.
