Back to School message from NR-S

We will be making our middle and high school a phone-free space to improve teaching and learning using a system called Yondr. Yondr has been implemented in over 2,000 schools to facilitate an engaged learning environment.

We believe that phones have great utility. However, we have also found that learning and social behavior improve drastically when students are fully engaged with their teachers and classmates.

The Yondr Program utilizes a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone. Every student will secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. Students will remain in possession of their phones and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day, while leaving for an open period, or while leaving for lunch (9-12). Students are required to bring theri Yondr pouch to and from school each day and are responsible for their pouch at all times.

Students in grades 7-9 will need to bring their Yondr pouch assigned to them last school year back to school on August 22.

If there is an emergency and you would like to contact your child, please call the main office. In an effort to best serve your child, we appreciate your support in adoption of the Yondr Program at our school. Parents or guardians will be asked to come to the school to pick up phones that are actively displayed or sound during the school day. We believe that this will be a supportive tool that helps our students and staff refocus their priority on learning and relationships in the classroom.

It upsets me that I have to post this.. however, one of my daycare children's bike was stolen from right in front of the daycare last night. No questions will be asked if it is returned before the end of the day. Just a reminder there are cameras around town and the NDTC camera faces the daycare.

And another one bites the dust! The New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock Rockets have won their third consecutive Region 2 game over the Larimore Polar Bears tonight with a final score of 59-12! Way to go Rockets! 🚀🏈 Here is NR-S/M senior Logan Fossen scoring one of the many touchdowns during the game. Also scoring touchdowns for the Rockets were Bradyn Collier, Connor Knatterud, Macyn Olson, Easton Benz and Logan Maddock.

Congratulations to our very own New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock Rockets on their second Region 2 win over the Four Winds/Minnewaukan Indians. With a final touchdown by Carter Engebretson and a field goal kicked by Connor Knatterud, the Rockets took a 35-12 win over the Indians. 🥳🏈 Next Friday, the Rockets will host the Larimore Polar Bears in New Rockford starting at 7:30 pm.

The ND state champion New Rockford-Sheyenne middle school archery team just finished their flight at National Archery in the Schools Program Western Nationals in Sandy, Utah! Go Rockets!!
