Riddled with survivor’s guilt after his unit lost 17 men during “Operation Enduring Freedom” in Afghanistan, Marine veteran Anthony Marquez makes it his mission to reconnect with the Gold Star families of the fallen. By carving and hand-delivering a battlefield cross for each of the families affected by loss, Anthony finds the path to heal himself.

Plus Laborde will welcome New Orleans puppeteer Jeff Kent who will bring an original Mr. Bingle marionette, handcrafted by Oscar Isentrout, who was the voice and puppeteer for Maison Blanche’s Mr. Bingle shows in the front window of the Canal Street store during the late 50s and into the 60s.

Beginning at 5:30pm, during the MARKETPLACE, guests will watch an excerpt from CHRISTMAS IN NEW ORLEANS. Following Kent will chat with WYES producer Peggy Scott Laborde about his work with Edwin Oscar Isentrout, the original puppeteer and voice of Mr. Bingle. Kent served as his assistant in the 1980s and served as his last apprentice.

The WYES HOLIDAY MARKETPLACE will take place from 4:30pm-7pm on Tue., Nov. 19 at WYES.
