Eastland Christian School says 1st Grader Elienisse Diaz “was a bright light in the school community, and are thankful for the time they had with her.”

Elieniese’s school offers their condolences and grief support to her fellow classmates, after her passing last night. 🙏

Our heart is heavy at DragCoverage after her tragic on track Jr.Dragster accident Saturday.

Eastland School said “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved first grade student Elienisse Diaz passed away last night at 10:54pm. She was a bright light in our school community, and we are thankful for the time we had with her. Her beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all of us.”

“Our hearts go out to her family during this incredibly difficult time, and we ask that you join us in lifting them up in prayer and support. May we surround them with love and comfort as they navigate through this unimaginable loss.”

“For anyone in need of grief support, our chaplain will be available to offer assistance and guidance during this time of sorrow. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you or your child need someone to talk to.”

“We will hold Elienisse's memory close to our hearts. Thank you for your understanding and support as we come together to mourn this loss and remember the joy she brought to all of us.”

Jr.Dragster Racer Elienisse Zoe Diaz Passes, February 4, 2025 at 10:54 PM

DragCoverage extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Elienisse. Her mother announced her passing last night at 10:54 PM.

Elienisse was involved in an on track accident Saturday in her Jr. Dragster at Orlando Speed World and the entire Drag Racing Community has been showing their full support for this family during their greatest time of need.

Her family said “It is with immense sadness & devastation that I share the passing of our sweet girl, Elienisse Zoe Diaz last night- Tuesday, February 4 at 10:54pm. She was called home and entered the gates of heaven - fully healed from her earthly injuries ❤️‍🩹.”

“Please keep her mom, dad, brother, sister, and extended family close to your heart in prayer, as they navigate the unimaginable loss of their sweet girl.”

Orlando Speed World said “We are deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident that took place at OSW on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elienisse’s family, and all those affected, including our racing community.”

“Motorsports is built on passion, but moments like these remind us of the risks that come with what we love. While injuries can heal, the pain of loss is immeasurable. We stand together in support, mourning, and prayer during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to those grieving and will continue to uplift them in our thoughts.”

Texas’ Pennington Bros Restore 70-year old Chevy Back to a Masterpiece

When a Bracket Race family like the Pennington’s put their heads together, the result is this beautiful masterpiece.

Peeps Pennington said “We started this project December 20th of 2020 and it’s finally almost done. We’ve been needing to post pictures of this car to thank the people involved in bringing this 70 year old steel wheel wagon back to life.”

“Special thanks to Greg Hubbell (Kathy Blevins Hubbell) for the time and effort building the chassis, Hunter Patton for wiring and assembling a lot of it and Trent Wilson for the countless hours in body work and paint. It exceeded our expectations and now we aren’t sure what to do with it.”

Kye Kelley Takes Down Stevie Jackson First Round in Bradenton

Kye had the better reaction time and quicker Elapsed Time, 3.59 to Stevie’s 3.60. Kye will advance to round 2 at the US Street Nationals.

Kye’s Reaction was .036 vs Jackson’s .056

Chilton County Motorsports” New Timing System Installed. Track will open back up after being abandoned for over 10 years

“Timing system is 100% complete! If weather will work for us we may try to have a test n tune next Friday night! I will update everyone asap,” says the staff at the newly named Chilton Motorsports.

Chilton County Dragway outside of Clanton, AL will get a second chance after two friends combine their efforts to open the facility back up under the name Chilton County Motorports Park. Josh Alexander and Jesse Boothe from Thorsby, AL are leading the efforts and discussed their plans with DragCoverage.

Texas Racer Wins Copart “Burnt” Mustang Bid at $13,500 and this is what he found…

A couple weeks ago, DragCoverage covered the story of a Mustang that went to Copart Auction after a fire

Fortunately, Hot Rod Magazine picked up our story, found the buyer, and has a great article written by Brian Lohnes. Link in comments…

A racer from Texas by the name of Crede Young won the bid at $13,500 and he says he believes there’s at least $50,000 worth of salvageable parts.

- He was willing to bid up to $25,000 because his main goal was to get the engine. Rocker arms are little rusty but everything looks good so far

- All aluminum Ford Motor built by Bennett Racing engine is good, but being checked.

- Rear End and Transmission is dusty but looks good

- He was told car was on a rack during the fire, so was not directly in the fire

Just days after he announced his departure from NHRA, Alan Reinhart, one of the most familiar names in all of drag racing, has joined the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) as the new Vice President of Racing Operations.

Reinhart is the longtime voice of the sport with decades of experience announcing at the largest national events. He will have an expanded role with IHRA. One of his initial priorities is to work with new IHRA President Rich Schaefer on establishing schedules.

Besides providing commentary at the IHRA Nitro Jam events, Reinhart will be a liaison for the professional teams and work with track operators and other stakeholders. He will also serve in a leadership role where he’s involved with management in setting policies and procedures.

“I’m looking forward to a new challenge,” Reinhart said. “I was with NHRA for a long time, and it was an adventure for 30-plus years going to all the races. The opportunity to take on this new venture at a management level, it was time for a change.”

Alan Reinhart Departs from NHRA after 30 years

I will miss the voice of NHRA, Alan Reinhart. Yesterday, he announced his departure from the series. Sources say that he and NHRA could not come to an agreement after his contracted ended, so he’s moving on.

Reinhart posted “I am no longer affiliated with the NHRA. The last 30+ years have been a hell of an adventure, But all good things come to an end, and I have reached the end. No bad feelings on my part, just time for a change.”What's next? Stay Tuned....

Father and Son from Georgia Debut New 1966 Nova with Roll Up/Down Glass Windows & Factory Trim. Todd & Kline Whitley

Kline is a University Professor and his dad is a house builder. The two of them together, with the help of Maddox Race Cars, have built a master piece!

While the weather has been unpredictable, father and son Todd and Kline Whitley from Warner Robins, GA, have a reason to celebrate amidst the chaos— the completion of their beautiful 1966 Chevy II completed by Maddox Race Cars.

The Whitley’s have always wanted a 6.0 certified chassis car with factory appearance and they ultimately decided on a 1966 Nova. So, you get the best of both worlds. A fast car with glass roll up/down windows and factory trim.

“Kip Maddox pieced the car together with new steel panels, ensuring every detail fit perfectly with the factory trim and glass windows. He brought our vision to life,” Todd Whitley shared.

Palm Beach International Raceway is back for sale; the price is “Make an offer”

The Jupiter, FL 174 acre property is back on the market for a listed price of “not listed, make an offer,” as seen in the attached plans below.

The track was opened in 1964 and sold in 2021 to a real estate agent who had plans for an industrial warehouse complex.

NHRA BANS RACER’S TITLE SPONSOR, ONLYFANS

According to Summer Richardson, NHRA has ended her 2025 season due to the banning of her title sponsor, Onlyfans.

Richardson said “My 2025 season was shutdown this week by NHRA due to my title sponsor. They have banned me as a OnlyFans Sponsored Athlete! I am devastated! As everyone in this sport knows how expensive it is to compete at TAD level and above you need that corporate backing. NHRA has allowed me to run my title sponsor; OnlyFans for 2 years!”

“What is so horrific about the entire thing is how NHRA handled it! I understand the reasoning as to why they did it, but this should have been a warning to me in 2024. Shutting down my season 1 month before I’m scheduled to hit the track, with contracts that have been signed for months and funds distributed. Very disheartening. So this being said, as of right now I will not be competing in any NHRA events for the 2025 season. I’m sorry to all my race fans as this has been a devastating blow to me, my family and the team I was so excited to race with this season.”
