The Press Club of New Orleans is happy to announce that applications are being accepted for this year’s scholarship awards. We are awarding two $2,500 scholarships in August.

Scholarships are funded by FOX 8 WVUE TV, Renaissance Publishing and year-long fundraising efforts.

Applications must be received by Friday, July 26, 2024 at 5 p.m.

DEADLINE EXTENDED - The Press Club of New Orleans is extending the deadline for entries in our Excellence in Journalism Awards Contest to THIS Friday, May 10th at 11 p.m. CST.

All entries are now $35. Applicants must be members of the Press Club of New Orleans to qualify and apply.

Work completed in the 2023 calendar year is eligible.

The Press Club of New Orleans and Molly's at the Market will host our monthly celebrity happy hour for October this THURSDAY (Oct. 20, 2022) -- TODAY!!! -- to raise funds to support our important annual scholarship program!

As usual, we'll have a separate tip bucket for donations to the Press Club's scholarship fund, so please support the Molly's bartenders with your tips as well as our non-profit fund for the next generation of journalists and professional communicators!

This photograph entitled “Ace Gets a Haircut,” taken by Sophia Germer, is one of the many compelling and visually stimulating images on display at Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery as part of our Prospect New Orleans P.5 Satellite exhibit “Life Through the Lens.” We would like to thank all the photographers on display and apologize for the initial delay in placing the photo labels. The exhibit displays elements of life and culture in Louisiana. Thank you to the sponsors, Lakeside Photoworks and PEN America, for helping make this exhibit possible. The exhibit is will be on display until January 23, 2022.

In addition to celebrating our wonderful network of journalists and media professionals for the work they've produced over the past year, we will also be celebrating two of our esteemed and longtime journalists, Walt Handelsman and the late Nancy Parker Wvue. GALA UPDATE!!! As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our community, with cases of the Delta variant steadily on the rise, the Board of Directors of the Press Club of New Orleans has decided to forego this year’s in-person awards gala in favor a virtual event. A new date for the virtual gala will be announced as soon as they are available. In the meantime, see our website for details regarding refunds and what comes next.

We sincerely appreciate all your support and understanding as we work to do what we can to mitigate exposure to and spread of the coronavirus and help to keep our communities safe. We thank you and hope to see you in 2022!

Do you know a college student from New Orleans studying journalism or public relations? The deadline to apply is approaching!

The Press Club of New Orleans will award two $2,500 scholarships to qualified journalism and public relations students at the college level. The scholarships are open to students who graduated high school in the New Orleans metropolitan area and are attending either in-state or out-of-state colleges. Students in their sophomore year or higher are eligible to apply. Please help us spread the word!
