We voted early today. We usually do for presidential elections because it’s easier and much quicker. I’m usually anxious, sometimes hopeful as we approach the polls… but today I was GIDDY. Giddy and connected to this process in a way I’ve never felt before. Until today, I had never had the privilege of voting for a POTUS that looks like me. I did not think it would happen in my lifetime… but here we are. Of course is qualified. Of course she’s ready. And so many of us have BEEN ready for the change that is finally here. I am incredibly proud in this moment, and feeling everything, everything, everything.

When our babies learn to read and understand the world around them, it gives them tremendous knowledge and power. We can teach them how to use that knowledge and power to change voting, politics, and government for the better. Let us instill in them that they can one day make and vote for laws that give people the freedom, dignity, and help they need to live their lives.

LOOK at our babies on their first day of school🥹. Another year has begun, and we are feeling all the feels. Every year, we thumb through all of the albums and Apple memory videos, then we have the “remember when” discussions about the cute things they did and said. We’ll do it again next year, too. And it will never get old. Ever. ❤️

Another year around the sun, ya’ll! I’m 41 years in, and with each year I get older, I feel brighter, smarter, more beautiful, and the most capable I’ve ever been (Now, if I could just find the the energy to accommodate all these attributes 😂). I’m grateful for life, love, and each day I have with the people that mean the most to me.

So this pic represents a season of change for us… “Christmas on a pivot.” Can you be merry and weary at the same time? On the opposite wall of this beautiful little tree and gifts, is our entire lives packed into boxes. Today we were supposed to be moving back into our newly renovated home (just in time for Christmas), but plans changed. This big change also came on the heels of a ROUGH week for family news, health stuff, and my omnipresent anxiety (👋🏾). It’s been one of those weeks when you think “ok, please God, don’t add anything else to my plate,” and then God adds just a little bit more. Ironically, the sermon we heard in church last week was on disappointment and managing the curveballs life throws at you. I’m pretty sure God was tapping me on my shoulder to make sure I was paying attention, but I acted like the message was for someone else 😒. However, I’m now standing at FULL attention, and am letting myself feel the fear, sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion- but also taking in the happy moments, laughing out loud, and appreciating our privileges and blessings.

This Christmas, Nick and I are taking life as it comes and celebrating our family, friends, and all of you! We love the community we continue to build as children’s book creators, and all of the support and encouragement you give! Thank you for cheering us on! Thank you for making this platform feel like home. Happy holidays!
