A WWOZ video of Mardi Gras Indians is currently showing at the Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious international art exhibits. The video, by WWOZ's Video Director Charlie Steiner, features many different Indians, including Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Golden Eagles, the 9th Ward Hunters, and the Young Maasai Hunters, as well as many Indians participating in Uptown Super Sunday earlier this year. WWOZ has long partnered with Mardi Gras Indians to help share their artwork and voices, and we're very proud our video has made the trip from New Orleans to Italy.

The video is part of a larger exhibit of Mardi Gras culture and artistry, displaying full suits and other beadwork by Big Chief Darryl Montana of the Yellow Pocahontas, Big Chief Howard Miller of the Creole Wild West, Big Chief Tyrone Casby of the Mohawk Hunters, Third Chief Ronnel Butler of the 9th Ward Black Hatchet tribe, and Spy Boy Lloyd Keeler of the Apache Hunters.

Can't travel to Venice to see the suits and the video? Click on the link to our website, where you can learn more and view the video, as well as directions on how to do a virtual tour of the exhibit in the famous Palazzo Mora -- where we're told the staff are now streaming WWOZ because of the video!
