COMING SUNDAY IN THE DAY: Jontay Lapoint-General spent the spring of his senior year making music under the mentorship of Frank Colmenares and Brian Johnson. Colmenares started the Hip Hop Healing program to help young musicians emotions and experiences into meaningful songs.

COMING SUNDAY IN THE DAY: Flo Turner, a popular personality at the Montville transfer station, has a passion for her job and the people who frequent the station. She maintains the station's "free area," a project she started to reduce waste by giving people a place to drop off and pick up used goods.
A one-mile stretch of Lyme Street in Old Lyme turned the summer solstice into a trick-or-treat for music. The occasion was Make Music Day, an annual international celebration of music in all its forms.
Frank Colmenares shares his trauma, brings therapy to the stage
In an effort to de-stigmatize therapy and speaking about mental health, rapper Frank Colmenares has conceived a live experience that combines musical performance with an on-stage therapy session. He will perform songs that discuss his personal traumas, and then discuss them on stage with a licensed therapist. Colchester motorcyclist promotes helmet safety after crash
Andrew Pisano of Colchester suffered a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle crash, and travels to Wallingford each week for physical, speech and occupational therapies. Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, where he does his rehab, is sharing Pisano's story during Brain Injury Awareness Month in hopes that it will convince more motorcyclists to wear a helmet.
