https://theday.com/news/274222/the-days-all-area-field-hockey-player-of-the-year-east-lymes-gracie-lloyd/ Gracie Lloyd, a first team Class M all-state selection last season for the East Lyme High School field hockey team, had surgery on Jan. 11 to repair a tibial fracture and torn meniscus in her right leg. “I think the mindset I approached it with was I don’t want to come out of this and look back on it and be like, ‘I didn’t make the best of the situation or I wasn’t mentally tough.’ So, I really just used it as a motivational thing, like building up my mental toughness, building up my resilience.”

Ambruso scored a 37.5 to win the State Open, also finishing first at the meet on the balance beam (9.725) and was named the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association Gymnast of the Year.

She makes regular trips to swim no matter the season. “If I’m out of the pool for more than a day or two, I can feel it,” said Bezanson, a senior at Norwich Free Academy, “so I hate to be out of the pool.
