The golden scepter.
The story of Esther is a story that fascinates me no matter how many times I read it.
What a Faith!!!
What an audacity!!!
"If I perish, I perish"
Ha!!!
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
Esther 4:16
"If I perish, I perish!!! Habaaaaaaa
Esther faced a "cross" experience when she had to choose whether to risk her life for the preservation of her people, the Jews, when they were living in exile.
No one could approach the king unless that person was summoned by him. Esther made the choice to risk her life and stand in the gap for her people. If the king did not hold out his golden scepter to her as she approached, the law stated that she must die, be put to death, wow!
Reading Esther's story led me to asking myself lots of questions cos this Esther, this Hadassah girl, happened to be human like me.
Permit me to ask you the same questions..
When are you going to stand up and start contending with these forces that have vowed to make sure you don't rise?
When are you going to stand up against this poverty ravaging your family and bringing shame to the name of The God you call upon daily? You have done everything humanly possible yet, it is standing firm and saying " you go nowhere"
When are you going to start calling the devil out on all his tricks and saying "no, I ain't falling for that"?
When are you going to start calling out this uncircumcised philistine defiling the army of God in the lives of your siblings and extended families?
You watch the devil ravage your family, and all you think of to do is run into hiding... U might run o, but when he is done with them, he will come for you.
Esther 4:13
And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.
Do not think you will escape. You won't.
What if you were born for a time as this? To be a saviour, to stand in the gap and cry " deliver" "restore"
When are you going to stop this your lifestyle of praying one day and lamenting for a 100 days?
Fasting for 6 hours, and fainting for a week? And be shouting everywhere "omo, I fast o, I almost die, na God save me'
When are you going to be Esther and say "if I perish, I perish"
Whether you re summoned or not, you summon yourself, push yourself forward in prayer, call unto God with all persistency.
You feel afraid, don't let fear stop you.
When you rise, be assured that the kingdom of darkness will rise too, they will fight, but God always wins if you will keep going in faith amidst the fears and the roaring of the devil.
With persistency and consistency, God will hold out that golden scepter to you, the scepter that says...
"I show you mercy"
"I offer you life"
"Live, and not die"
"I give you honor"
"I give you the crown of beauty for ashes"
"I give you power"
"Reign alongside Jesus"
"I give you authority"
"I give you dominion"
It takes just one man/woman.
In persistency, in consistency, daring the unknown to bring that great change to a million lives.
Will you take that decision today?
