The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that if someone has two or three wives and does not treat them justly, half of their body will be paralyzed in the Hereafter. Here, we are committing injustice against twenty million women in Afghanistan.”
Addressing Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, Stanekzai called on him to put an end to these injustices. He added: “We are not allowing women to get an education, nor to go to mosques. They are denied inheritance rights. They cannot give or withhold approval for marriage. They are exchanged in tribal practices. Universities and schools are closed to them, and they are even barred from attending religious seminaries. Is this the way of Sharia, or is it our personal interpretation? Will we not be held accountable for this injustice in the Hereafter?”
