My musical brother and friend of many, many years- Brockett Parsons put out a wonderful album last fall on my imprint(within Ropeadope Records), Modern Icon Recordings.. I also had the honor of producing, playing drums on and co-writing much of the material with him. It was an inspirational experience and possibly the fastest I've made a record, ever. A concentrated 4 months of writing and recording most days of the week-with most of the material recorded in composing stage being kept in the tracks themselves later. We explored all the various styles of music he was interested in and combined them as well. A blend of Prog rock, funk, classical, deep hip hop, electronica, jazz, fusion, avant garde-all residing in the end body of work. The goal was to make a record that was hot, forward and grooving- but also could stand up as high art-showcasing his powerful style and wide range as a pianist/keyboardist.
