Can we give a shout-out to anyone in a creative field? You can’t just show up and do the work. You also have to have a certain amount of inspiration and creative energy flowing. When I see people around me working on their craft it motivates me to go harder. You can watch TV 📺 , read a book 📕, listen 🎧 to you’re favorite podcast there’s always something out there to inspire us to dream 💭 big. You have to take information from what you’ve learned and apply it to everyday lifestyle that’s the only way you’re dreams will turn into reality.

There are so many reasons to follow someone on social media 📱: you might think they are aspirational, or you might think they are entertaining, or maybe you are learning tangible things from them and so on. Even among the people reading 📖 this, I’m sure you each have different reasons for why and how we connected 🧠 .
No matter how our paths crossed 🛣 and what you’ve taken away from following me, I hope you hear this loud 🗣 and clear from me: Don’t set limitations for yourself!
Sure, I touch on multiple topics in my posts. But beneath it all is my belief that you can exceed your own expectations- and helping others believe the same.

When I first began DJing 🎚, I knew it had to be around like minded people 💭 . People who have positive energy 🧘🏾♂️ and can give me feedback on what I’m doing both right & wrong. You have to be willing to receive advice from people who have been doing this longer than you 📝, and know the ins and outs of the business. The more you know the more you grow and become better.

By being patient, I know everything I do is about serving something much greater than myself. That is what keeps me inspired & determined to keep going.

Where do you dream of being in 5 years? I can barely decide on what I want to eat for dinner every night, so the question about where I want to be in 5 years is always tricky for me—But, here’s what I do know:

I’m putting in the effort to make that dream a reality by practicing my craft everyday, studying others dj’s, listening to other genres of music from each decade. I’m not one to be shy about this because I’ve benefited so much from the help of others!

The best advice I’ve gotten is to “be patient...” I first heard this years ago from my mother and it’s carried me through some real challenging times in my life. It taught me how to remain cool, calm, and collective under most circumstances. For instance, I remember straight outta high school not having a job and seeing everyone around me with one. I often felt discouraged 😔. But that didn’t stop me from applying to as many as I could. I would fill out applications left and right ⬅️ ➡️ until I got a call back☎️. Waiting for a call at times was stressful because often times I would say to myself I’ll never get one 😤. Until one summer day that would all change. I got a call for a job interview and when I went, I was hired on spot! 😃 I was so happy because I felt all my hard work leading to that interview paid off.

So the "be patient" advice definitely paid off because it taught me to never give up. When you believe you shall receive, so I'm passing this wisdom onto you as well.

You'd be surprised to know that I was hesitant at becoming a DJ at 1st.

I always knew I had musical talents 🎶, but for some reason, I didn’t fully believe in myself. Believe it or not, it was my sister who was the first person to tell me that, "You're limitless, once you stop limiting your doubts & beliefs in yourself." This was a couple of years ago where she encouraged me to take a leap of faith.

But I was STILL not taking things serious with my talents 🤷🏾♂️. It wasn't until 2019 that I became fed up with not seeming to have my ish together. I was frustrated with where I was at, and so I decided to give it a try after reallly thinking it through and realizing not only was it doing something I loved, but it also would open the doors to other avenues. I started watching YouTube videos, hearing interviews from other DJs, and it became very apparent that I had a skill for this.

The 3 main reasons I fell in love with DJ'in is because:
1. I love music!!! 🎵🙌🏾
2. I want and enjoy people having a good time 💃🏾🕺🏾.
3. And I truly enjoy it! 🎙️
Never doubt yourself, especially when you’re fully capable of achieving what you want. Work hard, be smart, and stay humble and you'll make your dreams a reality 😁.

Consistency or spontaneity? 🎰
I'd say I'm a lil of both. I find that I’m most productive when I start my business work 1st thing in the AM and that I'm most creative late at night 🌙 when everything around me is quiet. There’s such a peace in the solitude I find at nighttime. It allows my mind to escape and think of different beats and mixes for my next hot playlist.

Balancing between being a DJ 🎚and my personal life is not the easiest task, but it's what makes this journey even more fun. Although somehow it always feels like a balancing act 🤹🏾♂️, they somewhat complement each other in a dope way, and I truly believe that it's made me a better DJ because I'm a better business man.

It's taught me to stay focused and organized 💆🏾♂️, and most importantly, it's made my love for what I do that much more deeper.

As we approach the end of the year, how have you been keeping on track with your goals?
Maybe you have an inspirational phone background or maybe you create a vision board every year or maybe you're more of the wishing and manifesting type?
I have a tendency to keep a goal-setting planner which keeps me organized. However, this year looked a little different than planned, since my life and business was largely impacted by COVID w/the loss of my father and the loss of my drive to start my business since parties were pretty much shut down for most of the year.
So I’m giving myself grace on the goals I missed and celebrating the ones I was still able to accomplish like launching my business, getting my website up and running, and generating inquiries.

Do you sometimes forget to make time to acknowledge an accomplishment before moving on to pursue the next? 🤔
I'm definitely guilty of this. It's just sometimes it seems the time between one booking and the next drags on forever!

But there’s always something to celebrate. Even just a promising inquiry. So don't beat yourself up if you're not necessarily where you want to be in life yet. Just as long as you keep pushing on while acknowledging and appreciating your milestones, you'll get to your destination in due time ⌚.

My everyday morning routine consists of waking up at 7am and expressing gratitude thru prayer. Then I wash up, eat breakfast and head to work.

It may seem very simple, but this routine really sets my days up for success and looking for another reason to elevate myself in life.
