You can be whatever you set your mind to.
I recall the days when I was just starting out in the field of journalism. While I was trying to decide whether or not my website seemed "professional" enough, I kept second guessing whether or not my writings were "effective" enough.
All because I kept thinking:
Why am I doing what I am doing? There must be a problem somewhere. Eventually, though, I discovered something IMPORTANT that I believe you should be aware of as well.
It isn't necessary to have all of the necessary tools, resources, and tactics to be a successful journalist or a media professional of any kind. Although they are important, they only come SECOND.
Second to what -- you ask?
TO YOUR MINDSET.
A person's mentality is the sum total of all of his or her beliefs, habits, and character traits. It's how you deal with that little voice inside your head that says "You can't" when you know deep down that YOU CAN.
I had to face my anxieties, limiting beliefs, past traumas, and insecurities in order to shift my perspective. But when I did the inner work, it radically changed my writing, my business, and my life.
In order to enhance my own thinking, here are five things I did
- Became obsessed with personal development content (books, podcasts, videos)
- Meditate
- Journal every night
- Say affirmations
- Made my own vision board
You could do all of that, too! Which one are you going to try today?
