In a collaborative meeting with Main Street Delaware City Inc, both Delaware City Police and Fire Chiefs as well as the Mayor and the City Manager it was agreed the potential for rain is after 9 pm tonight. New Castle Noise Alert!

We've just learned that the firm that will build our floating pier will be driving some test pilings tomorrow and Monday. They need to do this to gather the data they need to plan construction of the pier. It could be noisy, and we don't want people to be alarmed.

Just before 4pm on Wednesday 7/24, Good Will units along with New Castle County Paramedics were alerted to a motor vehicle accident with rollover on Basin Road in front of Ioannis Sandwich Shop. Ambulance A18 and Squad 18 made an immediate response. Upon arrival, the crew assessed one patient who was the operator of a vehicle that rolled onto its side and was then rolled back over by passerby’s. One patient was transported to the local trauma center.

Upon clearing this incident, Squad 18 and Deputy 18 were alerted to respond to Coachman’s Manor Apartments off Moore’s Lane for a reported structure fire. Squad 18 arrived as the first due engine and investigated to find a faulty sump pump in the basement.

The New Castle County Division of Police has recently investigated several thefts and attempted thefts along the Jack A. Markell Trail.

We urge all trail users to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings. Here are some safety tips:

-Travel with a partner when possible. 👯‍♂️👯‍♀️
-Keep your valuables out of sight. 🔒
-Be cautious of unfamiliar individuals or activities. 👀
-If you notice anything suspicious, call 911 immediately. 📞🚓
-Try to provide a description that is as detailed as possible. 📝
-Your safety is our priority. Stay alert and stay safe. 🛡️

The New Castle City Police are investigating a crash involving a vehicle that struck a railroad crossing warning light. The accident occurred on July 12th shortly after 10 am at the crossing located on Delaware Street at Eighth Street.

Norfolk Southern is responding to repair/replace the warning light.

Anyone traveling through this area should expect delays. Crossing trains will be coming to a complete stop at this intersection to manually stop traffic.

An update will be posted when repairs have been completed.
