The long wait is over: Wampum's Dick Allen is headed to Cooperstown. His induction was announced Sunday night by the Classic Era Committee, where he garnered votes on 13 of 16 ballots. Allen, who died in 2020, twice previously earned 11 votes, coming up just one short. Allen's career highlights include being named the 1964 National League Rookie of the Year, 1972 American League MVP, a seven-time all-star and he once wore the name of his hometown on the back of his jersey. (Allen graduated from Wampum High School in 1960.)

Throwback Thursday -- it's only fitting we honor two Ne-Ca-Hi legends. On the left is Char Macri battling for a rebound against Neshannock. She continues to support the game of basketball as a PIAA referee! And on the right is the legend Lorri Johnson, who became the first women's basketball player at the University of Pittsburgh to have her jersey retired. She's Pitt's all-time leading scorer at 2,312. She still holds the record for points in a game (45) and field goals in a season. Lorri died in 2020 at age 51.
