On Tuesday, Students for Justice in Palestine at New Brunswick (SJP), formerly known as Students for Justice in Palestine at Rutgers—New Brunswick, organized a protest in front of the College Avenue Gymnasium. This was organized in response to an event hosted by Students Supporting Israel at Rutgers—New Brunswick (SSI), which featured Mosab Hassan Yousef as the guest speaker. Mosab Hassan Yousef is an Israeli spy and the son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef. Though the event was postponed due to high demand and the need for a larger space following the protest’s announcement, the protest still continued as planned.

On Monday, the Endowment Justice Collective (EJC) gathered at Brower Commons on the College Avenue campus to march across the campus and chant for Palestinian autonomy. The group also set up an encampment of tents at Voorhees Mall on the College Avenue campus, paralleling similar movements across university campuses nationwide. The encampment concluded on Thursday, with 8 of 10 demands met by University administrators after a University-wide email from University President Jonathan Holloway read that if the group had not dispersed by 4 p.m. on Thursday, those remaining would be “considered to have trespassed” and drawn away from the premises by law enforcement.
