Ferguson earns Class 2A POY by PA Sports Writers

n the long history of high school football in District 9, it’s safe to presume that no player ever accorded any type of Player of the Year honor.

The award history doesn’t exactly do the past greats justice. East Brady’s Jim Kelly was an all-stater for the Bulldogs in the mid-1970s before going on to star in college at Miami and then to pro football, forging a Hall of Fame career.

There are plenty of outlets according all-state honors and it’s now six classes vs. the old two-group Small School and Large School format used by The Associated Press for years, but it’s believed no player reached the status of Player of the Year.
