Hail the size of quarters (see picture) was reported just southwest of Swansboro just before 6 PM this evening. If you live south of Kinston to New Bern be prepared for storms this evening. Areas such as Jacksonville through Swansboro, Cape Carteret over to Morehead City, and nearby areas, be prepared for heavy rain, large hail, and gusty winds this evening. If a SEVERE Thunderstorm WARNING is issued for your area, be prepared to seek shelter in the lowest level, in an interior room of your home.

Thank you to our First Responders!!!!

This is why you ↪️. Overnight, City of New Bern Fire-Rescue responded to a stranded motorist along Oaks Road at Neuse Avenue. The driver couldn't see the road & accidentally drove off the side into the ditch. Thankfully, everyone was alright. If you encounter high water or can't see the roadway - TURN AROUND!

Please be careful!

The intersection of S. Front Street & E. Front Street has reopened, but Union Point Park still looks like a lake. Please be safe in your travels if you have to go out - there is still some debris on the roads & we have many first responders on the roads repairing power infrastructure for customers. 💪

Please be safe. 9/23/2023

River gauge on the Trent River shows water levels are up 2.6 feet right now... and falling. Unfortunately as conditions deteriorate, the river will continue rising (not falling) adding to flooding along the riverfront downtown.

With effects from Tropical Storm Ophelia moving into the area through the overnight hours, we would like to remind you to not drive through low lying areas that are prone to flooding.

Good morning, ENC! There haven't been any major changes to the forecast, but here's what has changed since our briefing yesterday evening:

- Duplin County has been added to the Tropical Storm Warning
- Although the total rainfall accumulation forecast has not changed, the wording for the flooding rain threat has been adjusted to highlight areas we feel have the highest likelihood of seeing more significant flooding rain impacts
