The Nashville Scrapperettes have advanced to the elite eight of the Class 4A state tournament by defeating Pea Ridge 51-33 Thursday afternoon, March 6, in Magnolia. Nashville will play Brookland Friday at 7 p.m.

The season ended for the Nashville Scrappers Thursday afternoon with a 72-70 loss to Pottsville in the state 4A tournament at Magnolia. The Apaches scored on the final play to take the win.

The Nashville Scrapperettes defeated Arkadephia 86-54 in the semifinals of the Class 4A South regional Friday, Feb. 28, in Monticello. Nashville will play De Queen for the regional championship Saturday, March 1, at 6 p.m. The Scrappers lost to Magnolia 66-62 in the regional semifinals. They will play Arkadelphia or Camden Fairview at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the third place game. The Scrappers and Scrapperettes have already qualified for the state tournament starting Tuesday, March 4, in Magnolia.

The Nashville Scrappers beat Watson Chapel 68-59 Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Class 4A South regional in Monticello. With the win, they qualified for the state 4A tournament next week in Magnolia. The regional continues Friday, Feb. 28, with the semifinals. The Scrapperettes will play Arkadelphia at 4 p.m. followed by the Scrappers and Magnolia at 5:30. The Scrapperettes clinched a berth at state with an 81-43 win over Monticello Feb. 26.

The Nashville Scrapperettes defeated Monticello 81-43 in the opening round of the Class 4A South regional Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Monticello. They will play Star City or Arkadelphia at 4 p. m. Feb. 28 in the regional semifinals. The Scrappers’ first regional game will be Feb. 27 at 5:30 p. m. against Watson Chapel.

CORRECTION: In this week’s newspaper, we inadvertently left player Savannah Tedford off of the Dierks Junior High Lady Outaws roster. The newspaper regrets the error. The following is the corrected information and photo:
UNDEFEATED LADY OUTLAWS. The Dierks Junior High Lady Outlaws finished first in conference standings and capped season with a district tournament championship title. The team, 23-0 on the season, includes (from left) manager Katelyn Moore, Dallie Graham, Delannie Hawthorne, Taigen McCauley, Brielle Kirby, Presley Pugh, Kaylan Coulter, Izzy Semmler, Savannah Tedford, Ali Shelton and Scarlett Nuttall. FORMER BLEVINS SCHOOL DISTRICT COUNSELOR ARRESTED FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION

Hempstead County, AR – 02/12/25 – The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office has arrested former Blevins School District Counselor, Justin James Mishler, age 33 of Nashville, Arkansas following a three-month investigation into multiple criminal offenses.

Mishler has been charged with the following:

Promoting Obscene Materials
Unlawful Computerized Communications
Possession, Sale, or Distribution of Obscene Materials
Producing, Directing, or Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child
Pandering or Possessing Visual or Print Medium Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child
Engaging Children in Sexually Explicit Conduct for Use in Visual or Print Medium
Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the Second Degree
Harassment
Tampering with Physical Evidence

The investigation was initiated following reports of inappropriate conduct involving minors. In November of 2024, Mishler who served as a counselor and interim principal at Blevins High School resigned in November.

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Arkansas State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted an extensive inquiry into the allegations, which resulted in the issuance of 15 search warrants for social media platforms and electronic devices used by Mishler. As a result of the investigation an arrest warrant was issued. Mishler with his attorney surrendered himself to Hempstead County Investigator Sgt. Jeremy Mc Bride on Wednesday February 12, 2025. Mishler appeared before Circuit Judge Short. Who set Mishlers bond at $100,000.00. After posting bond Mishler was released pending a court date of March 24, 2025.

“This case underscores our unwavering commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of our children,” said James Singleton Hempstead County Sheriff. “We appreciate the diligence of Sgt. Jeremy McBride and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in ensuring that justice is served.”

On February 4, 2025, a warrant was issued for Maurica Trammell, age 22, for Theft of Property (credit card numbers). After receiving reports of fraudulent charges on multiple accounts, Investigator Tim Bowlin was able to identify Maurica Trammell as the suspect. Trammell, who was employed at Taco Bell in Nashville, was photographing credit card numbers from customers as they paid for their orders and using the stolen credit card numbers to make unauthorized purchases.

Maurica Trammell has an active warrant for her arrest for these transactions. Maurica has not shown up for work and has not been located. If you know her whereabouts, please call the Nashville Police Department.
