Growing up in central California my Dad sold trucks to farmers and most of my family is still in farming. Now in a full circle moment I’ve been called to tell the story of the American Farmer with some of my closest creative partners and friends. How do you tell the story of a farmer? They are a busy community of hardworking families that rarely leave the farm where crops and livestock need tending to, so you go to them. You travel the heartland with a chair, let the farmer sit in that chair and share the things they have humbly kept to themselves for generations. Let them tell you why they will risk everything they know and love in this life to put the same food on your table as their own. Let them tell you why small towns are important to big towns and why big towns are important to small ones. It doesn’t take long to realize we can all learn a lot about ourselves, our world and our future from a farmer. The story is not about right or wrong, it’s not about winning and losing, it’s not about success or failure, it’s about your life. If you don’t believe me then ask yourself, where would I be without food, or maybe more importantly where would I be without a farmer?
