Our Story
The Country Showdown is the largest and longest running County Music talent showcase in the nation. It has been introducing some of the best undiscovered Country Music talent to the world since 1982. The Country Showdown is a four-level competition beginning in the spring where contestants compete at events sponsored by their local Country Music radio station. Local winners then advance to the Regional level where the prize is $1,000.00 and the opportunity to compete at one of five Semifinal events. Semifinal winners win a trip to the National Finals! There, before a live audience, five aspiring Country Music artists will try to win the grand prize that includes an artist development deal and the title of "Best New Act in Country Music!" Icons such as Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sara Evans, Sweet Hearts of the Rodeo and many, many more all participated in the Showdown at one point in their career and look back on it as a valuable part of their journey that ultimately led to super-stardom.
