Here’s some tips for your next press release.

EPIC SUBJECT TITLE FOR EMAIL AND HEADLINE FOR PRESS RELEASE - The attention grabbers, consider something obscure for the subject title like. INVITE Founders Making An Impact in Crypto, invite them to join a webinar or virtual press day and include your release attached within. Headlines should be catchy, How Crypto will change our World or Crypto as payment, Disturbing the World of Fiat Payment Systems.

DIFFERENTIATE YOUR HOOK AND FIND YOUR ANGLE - All angles are not the same and they shouldn’t be. You should have multiple press releases with angles that fit the publication or writers you are reaching out to. Emails should be formatted with those different angles in mind as well. A story for Entrepreneur will differ from a Tech Crunch. Know your audience and write to them.

DO YOUR RESEARCH ON YOUR PUBLICATION CONTACT - Find the editor or writer you are going to pitch and make sure to read articles that they have written in the past and check out their LinkedIn. Get an understanding of their past articles or experience and mention and honor their expertise when you reach out to pitch them.

BE PERSISTENT IN REACHING OUT - Email and contact them on all social media find ways to “follow up” and remind them to have a look at your pitch and story. Engage, engage, engage, via mentions, liking posts and DMs. Persistence brings placement.

🆘 AVOID THE 💵 TRAP — Agency Burn is a real thing. Too many times we get on calls with prospective clients & they express that they have spent thousands on a previous agency to NOT reap the rewards of their marketing budget allocation. HOW DO YOU AVOID THIS?

1️⃣ DON’T GET DISTRACTED BY THE SHINY THINGS - It’s great to partner w/an agency that has clout & past great campaigns, but knowing the depths of their work must happen by asking for referrals, asking to speak w/past clients & any reputable agency will facilitate those checks & balances or show you video referrals that speak volumes to the work they’ve done in excellence
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ BE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE FOR PROFESSIONALS - Once you’ve properly vetted the right agency, the next step is making sure you aren’t getting taken back by their price. In start up land budgets are tight. However you’ll pay more in the long run, time you can’t recoup and money, for hiring amateurs. Be wise & be willing to pay for their professional skill.

3️⃣ ASK HARD QUESTIONS - Remember you are hiring the consultant &/or agency. They will be employed by you. Don’t leave a stone unturned ask the right questions. For instance, analytics and business/marketing data from your previous efforts should be reviewed, how are they going to rev those numbers up? You should be requesting quarterly reports & the “wins” from your now combined efforts. Making decisions off of data can help greatly in pushing your business forward.

4️⃣ BE CLEAR ABOUT DELIVERABLES - This goes for business owners & agencies/consultants. Scope of Work should be clear & boundaries defined w/reasonable expectations expressed. The boat of Scope is driven together & if someone steps out of deliverables both parties need to express best ways to meet in the middle & get back on track to rescope.

☎️ picking up the phone today seems old school, but the reality is that passion for a brand, to a client, to close a partnership is best expressed IRL.

So how do you get personal again?!? Especially in the age of zoom meetings and slack channels. We have some suggestions - while some of these seem trivial it is so important to ENGAGE outside of text/email -

- Weekly/bi-weekly client/partner calls maybe it’s 5 minutes or 30 but having one on one time with them allows for expression and input + ideas that won’t have room to flourish simply over text.

- Personalized video messages with tools like provide an opportunity for passion and enthusiasm to be expressed via a custom video message embedded in your email. Thoughtful and personalized — with options for with your client or partner to reply via text or video. Are you pitching? Pitch with a personal touch by adding video messaging to your pitch workflow. Speak to the strategy your are presenting and why it’s a fit for them to accomplish their objectives.

- Send a thank you! If you know your current/potential client or partner likes macarons, or they’ve got a furry human child 🐶 SAY thank you for their time and gift them a goodie that speaks volumes to how much you value them, their time and working together is a great and seamless way to thank them with a special gift and digital card.

Not to brag…. but we have been told we are proposal magic makers. It’s our first impression and it has to be on point. Here are some tips for epic proposals:

1️⃣ Canva.com is our go to, start your creative their, pick a template and make it your own.
2️⃣ Keep it short, keep it simple and interactive (text, photos, video if even for a background) Yet provide enough detail to purposefully layout scope of work and deliverables.
3️⃣ Don’t write a lengthy email. Canva has a feature where you can screen record and walk the client through the proposal (not every nook and cranny) but enough broad strokes to passionately express that you heard their needs, you’ve addressed them here, and that’s how you got to your fee at x. Additionally tools like Video Form or Video Ask provide a more personal email video for them to watch vs. read FOREVER. 80% of people opt in to watch a video while less than 20% read a lengthy pitch email.

Aesthetics are everything for your brand. If you are developing a brand and do not have brand guidelines to lead your creative team through the proper multi-channel presentation of your brand’s cohesive look/feel you’re signing up for a time suck, nightmare of edit requests and complaints similar to, “they just don’t get it.”

Creatives can’t climb into your mind and know your vision, where there is no vision the people perish and so will your creative team.

Branding is not a back peddle after you have built it and just because you build it does not mean they will come.
