Thank you for all the love for songwriters I got back from the post about streaming rates. I just wanted to add that streaming is NOT the enemy. Plenty of value and riches are flowing from streaming which is the new standard.

It's just that the value of the composition is not being fairly compensated to the songwriters and there have been some big land grabs by big powerful (same ol') companies.

Feel free to enjoy streaming and help spread the word about new artists to your friends. But just be aware that we are still very much underpaid and the songwriters behind the artists are particularly cheated. Yes its great to help support by buying CDs and other Merch items from artist's pages. But most of the great invisible songwriters don't "promote" or do merchandise, etc. They are forced to accept what the government tells them is the price they can ask for their work. No other profession does that that I'm aware of.

Some of the greatest cultural treasured songs were written in rooms by unseen geniuses who don't perform or do photo shoots or promote their "brand". They're too busy writing the next song!

I still believe that this will be righted at some point and there will be more equity. In the meantime I love working with songwriters and encouraging them to keep writing...to keep doing their body of work that they were born to do because the world needs great songs.

Thank you for standing up for us and please just know we have a long way to go before this streaming thing is equitable for working songwriters.

I'll put it through the 'BNC Song-Doctor Test' and we can discuss my feedback right on the show! Some of the fantastic songwriters I've already had on the show have come back on with the re-write and blown us all away! Songwriting is an art that works it's way into our worn out hearts and really heals us all through life. Sad ones as well as kick ass songs that get us moving.
