Here's one reviewers take on the book: "From Conquest to Land Promise, This Book Doesn't Skimp on the End of the Book - The test of this particular study is navigating a Bible class through the land allotments--not the easiest part of Joshua to expound with a modern audience. This is where the Sweeter Than Honey format really proves itself. The map, comparative exercises, and focus questions keep the readers engaged. As with the whole growing series, the charts bring out the emphases in the Hebrew text which are often hidden to Bible readers looking at book-chapter-verse divisions in English."

Happy Reformation Day, which celebrates Martin Luther's posting of 95 Theses at Wurttemberg on October 31, 1517. One of the benefits to come out of the Reformation was translations of the Bible into the common vernacular, making it widely accessible. Enjoy this snippet from the workbook from Curtis Byers.

"The Reformation brought a great deal of unrest to Europe. In part this was fueled by Luther’s translation of the Scriptures into German in 1522. In 1526, William Tyndale printed an English New Testament based on Greek manuscripts. Portions of the Old Testament were completed by 1530 and a second edition of his New Testament was published in 1534. Tyndale could not get ecclesiastical authority to produce his translation, thus he had to leave England to do his work. Tyndale’s motivation was also to provide his countryman direct access to God’s teachings. He is quoted as telling a clergyman, “If God spare my life, ere many years, I will cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the Scripture than thou dost.” Ultimately, he was denounced as a heretic and burned at the stake on October 6, 1536."

Happy Labor Day! I hope you all had a great Lord's Day yesterday and some restful and relaxing time off today. There are some exciting things happening at Guten Book Publishing. Our newest workbook was published this past week - The Bible: Its Origin, Transmission, and Translation by Curtis Byers. My material with Joshua in the Sweeter than Honey workbook series should be released soon as well. I'm starting work on my Judges material with hopes to publish sometime next year.
