MODERN CHURCHES ARE NOT BIBLICAL

Jesus chose the word “assembly” to refer to his followers. Perhaps surprisingly, the word “church” is not in the Greek Bible. Many modern 'churches' claim to be God-fearing and bible-believing and yet, they don't even use the name that Jesus himself chose.

When we hear the word church today, probably most people think of a building where people meet on Sunday, in uncomfortable clothes and sit on uncomfortable seats. However, when we hear the word “assembly”, probably most people think of a gathering of people. Note the extreme difference in perception, just by using the right term instead of the wrong term.

In the New Testament assemblies, people ate together, talked to, got to know and associated with each other and each one spoke or sang as they were moved to do so. There was no pre-planned program and rather, everything was spontaneous and people enjoyed each other and lifted each other up, much like genuine friends do today who gather together to talk and associate.

These assemblies didn't have any buildings and instead, they met in their homes. They considered it paganism to construct a building or so-called “house of worship”. Their God, the real God, “does not live in temples made with hands.” Rather, God lives inside his people and in heaven, a dimension that we cannot see.

Contrast that to modern churches, where some have choirs and others bands and then a preacher or bishop or someone with some other non-blblical position gives a lengthy boring sermon. The people are generally relieved when it is over and they go home until next week (and perhaps don't return). Unlike real assemblies of Jesus, which met every day or at least several times a week.

Modern churches often take up collections to pay for their expensive buildings and bloated salaries. Real assemblies of Jesus had volunteer positions and they took up collections for the poor and needy. They met in homes and thus, didn't have any building expense. Fortunately for them, there were no theological cemeteries to corrupt their minds and hearts.

Consider how much better a so-called modern 'church' would be if people ate together, really talked to and knew each other as genuine friends. If people took care of each other, helping those who are unemployed find work and helping those who are poor with their basic needs.

There is something seriously paganistic, twisted and wrong with modern Christianity. A whole lot of it has to do with money. All you have to do is to read the New Testament for yourself and see.
