The 2025 STAND UP FOR JUSTICE Educator Grant recognizes High School, Middle School and Elementary school educators who are innovative in bringing respect for others’ differences into their activities with students in a transformative, impactful, and caring way. The goal is to create a resource for educators of any discipline to incorporate strategies that promote understanding and respect among students, countering bigotry and bullying. This grant recognizes teachers, school counselors, school librarians, media specialists, school psychologists, and administrators.

Every once in a while, your children will experience a teacher who is full of all the magic and sunshine you could ever hope for. Twenty-three years ago, my oldest daughter began Miss Jane's Mommy and Me class at Temple Shalom Preschool, and it was the most wonderful introduction to Jewish toddler life in Naples. All three of my children entered their preschool years through her enchanted door and magical musical memories were made. She continued to be a part of their life throughout preschool and religious school. She dressed them like turkeys to sing Mr. Gobble and like little latkes to sing Hanukkah songs. She was the Pied Piper of Preschool for all children, and I hope many of you were as lucky as our family to march behind Jane Galler and her guitar singing silly songs at the top of your lungs. Our family is devastated at the loss of Miss Jane, but knows that she left a beautiful legacy on Earth and is teaching the angels super silly songs to last for eternity.

Please feel free to share your Miss Jane memories here, or of any teacher that made a difference to your children. For those who knew her, her life will be celebrated on Friday at 2 pm at Temple Shalom. 💛

Ms Jane was the embodiment of joy and love across the Jewish community.
