RIP, Bill Cobbs (June 16, 1934 – June 25, 2024).

He was an actor known for such film roles as Louisiana Slim in The Hitter (1979), Walter in The Brother from Another Planet (1984), Reginald in Night at the Museum (2006) and Master Tinker on Oz the Great and Powerful (2013). He played Lewis Coleman on I’ll Fly Away (1991–1993), Jack on The Michael Richards Show (2000), and had guest appearances on Walker, Texas Ranger and The Sopranos. In 2020, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Performance in a Daytime Program for the series Dino Dana. (June 16, 1934 – June 25, 2024) was an American actor. Cobbs’ brother, Thomas Cobbs, told TMZ that pneumonia is the suspected cause of his passing. Our prayers and condolences go out to the friends and family.

King Tides Will occur this week, May 6th - May 9th, increasing the possibility of flooding on roads and other areas now through Wednesday. Locations most often affected include Canal Drive, Florida Avenue, Carolina Beach Avenue North, and other low-lying areas.

Town officials may close roads due to flooding. Please use caution and obey traffic signs and barriers. Avoid walking or driving in flooded areas; salt water can be detrimental to your vehicle and could contain debris.

Media and the public can meet NOAA hurricane experts, scientists and crew members and get a close-up look at some of the aircraft that help forecasters keep us safe — NOAA’s WP-3D and the U.S. Air Force Reserve WC-130J “Hurricane Hunter.”
