Myrtle Beach BoardWalkumentary
Myrtle Beach BoardWalkumentary - On May 15, 2010, I was working on a documentary project for the Caravelle Resort -
www.VacationMyrtleBeach.com ,as they were celebrating their 50th Anniversary. I knew the Grand Opening of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk would be a great place to get some interviews and well wishes from some local dignitaries. I hit the jackpot, as everyone to whom I spoke had some great stories of the Caravelle's rise to prominence.
I started rolling for video of the Boardwalk Grand Opening Ceremony and quickly noticed that the actual news photogs on the scene had the video they needed for their stories and were picking up their sticks(tripods) and moving on with the shots they needed for their news stories highlighting the event. I was the sole shooter still on the scene and continued to record the happenings.
When Bob Sapp stepped to the microphone, he began to eulogize his wife, Gloria Maire Sapp, whom had recently past. She was the mother of my good friend Albert Ervin and I was thankful to be capturing it on video.
I edited this piece as a tribute to Big Al's mother and played it for Myrtle Beach city council. It was broadcast live from the presentation over the city's channel and then rested on a hard drive for nearly a decade.
A post from Mark Kruea reminded me of the BoardWalk's anniversary and here we go.
Many friends, including: Mark Kruea-City PIO, Mayor John, Councilmen: Randall Wallace, Wayne Gray and MIke Chestnut's Hat, are promenantly featured.
Dr. Jack Thompson had recently received his designation from Coastal Carolina University, and that was a noted with my lower third graphic.
This video now also serves as a tribute to Legendary Beach Music Icon, Billy Scott, who livened up the credits.
Enjoy, The Myrtle Beach BoardWalkumentary.
