MisunderStudio

MisunderStudio Recording studio for the misunderstood artist. A relaxed, innovative environment where musicians create, collaborate and record.

Misunderstudio is more than a place. It’s an artist friendly environment built with the vision of a musician. In 1996, Michael Lescelius moved his studio from the noisy streets of Cicero, just outside Chicago, to the rural spendor of Murphysboro, Illinois. Here is a place where musicians can take the music in their imagination and make it available for everyone to hear. Without distractions, witho

ut being rushed, and with all the expertise of recording in a studio run by a musician/engineer. Mike gently brings artists from the idea stage to the sound stage, guiding the artist, and producing the exactly the right sound. This artists’ retreat offers comfortable spaces to support and challenge musicians. From the big comfy couch to a front deck for star gazing, Mike created a studio where musicians feel at home, safe, and able to explore their own talent and creativity beyond any limits.

Howdy folks. My friend and music brother Stace England from Southern Illinois has just released a new project that I enthusiastically endorse. The band is called Foster’s Satchel featuring Southern Illinois musicians, two of which worked with me on Stand Tall- Mike Lescelius as producer and Beth Koehler on harmony vocals. The album title is Over the River Stephen Foster Reimagined.
Stace took obscure lyrics from the Stephen Foster catalogue and put his own music to them. The final result is so beautiful and compelling. It is my favorite album since Jason Isbell’s Something More Than Free. I listen to it almost every day, and usually wake up with songs from it in my head. The production, musicianship, vocals, and melodic approaches are over the top cool. It is available at all digital and streaming outlets. More information can also be found at www.staceengland.com
Good luck and congratulations to producer Mike Lescelius , guitarist and vocalist Charlie Tabing, Drummer Mary Deleonardis, keyboardist Roger Fliege, bassist Jake Deleonardis, harmony vocalists Beth Koehler and Chris McKinley, and of course to Stace for supplying the main light, talent, and guidance to this wonderful project, years in the making. It is a multi-dimensional masterpiece.
