OVERVIEW
So the Top Five songs last cycle… well, they’re still the Top Five songs this cycle! They’ve traded spaces, but it’s still the same five. We do however have a new #1 song to celebrate! Our “Top Mover” has gained a lot of ground in only two weeks - Our “Top New Entry” comes from a brand new group here on Simply Southern Gospel & you voted in three other brand new songs into the Top 40 – The seasons are changing, & it’s that time again to check out all the updates & changes on the Simply Southern Gospel/Top 40 Chart & “Closer Look” for October 15, 2024! ...
We are so happy to send Congratulations out to Small Town Sunday/”Chasing You” as they stepped into the well-earned #1 position on Simply Southern Gospel’s Top 40 this cycle. Small Town Sunday claimed the “Top Total Votes” & the “Top International Votes” this cycle. Incidentally, “Chasing You” moved up into the #10 position on our Contemporary sister station God’s Music Today! In the meantime, The Freemans/”Big Tent Revival” easily took the #2 spot along with the “Top Domestic Votes (USA)” this cycle. The Freemans also came very close to the #1 slot, the votes were quite tight! Coming in at #3, Mercy’s Won/”New Day Has Dawned On Me” has already come on quite strong & was even able to carve out the “Top Commented” this cycle. After 2 Weeks @ #1, TrueSong/”Jesus 1, Death 0” falls to the #4 position. The drop is not surprising due to the fact that two other TrueSong releases are bouncing around the Top 40 even now, splitting up the vote. The Taylors/”He Is Good To Me” dropped one spot to the #5 position, but held strong in the Top Five as this song is also doing very well and could easily surge up again! It’s looking to us like there’s going to be some heavy voting going on in the next two weeks!
“Top Mover” – The highly anticipated new single release from The Mark Dubbeld Family/”Something Better” was the “Top New Entry” at #29 last cycle, this cycle the song has proven that the wait was worth it, as they are our “Top Mover” this chart cycle with a +14-point surge from #29 to #14! Other major movers this cycle: Justified Quartet /”The Good, The Bad & The Ugly” with a +13-point jump from #40 to #27 & Gold City/”When It Gone For Good”, with a +12-point move from #34 to #22!
“Top New Entry” this cycle comes from a group new to Simply Southern Gospel, “The Foresters/”God Knows When” making their debut at #35 - Other new entries this cycle include: Heart 2 Heart/”When The Saints Begin To Pray” entered at ( #38) – Kingdom Heirs/”Until Prayer Changes Me” secured the ( #39) position & TrueSong/”All Things” debuted their new single at ( #40)!

#1 Small Town Sunday/”Chasing You”
Congratulations to Small Town Sunday/”Chasing You” for taking the #1 position on Simply Southern Gospel’s Top 40!. “Chasing You” swept the “Top Takes” this cycle includes “Top Votes Total” & “Top International Votes”! Small Town Sunday has been growing in popularity across the board. “Chasing You” seems to have carried them into the next realm, at least with Simply Southern Gospel listeners. When a song reaches #1, we like looking back and chronicle the journey this song had to #1! Small Town Sunday/”Chasing You” entered the chart on the August 1st chart at #39. On the August 15th chart “Chasing You” became the “Top Mover” and surged an impressive +17-points from #39 to #22. By September 1st, the song took another +10-point jump to #12. The momentum continued and on the September 15th Chart the song shot to #6. October 1st chart “Chasing You” leaped to the #2 position. October 15th charts came in and currently “Chasing You” is our latest #1 song. We can tell you that Small Town Sunday earned this #1, at least with our listeners, and we couldn’t be happier for them!
