In the corner where the sunlight fades,
An old man sits, in memories bathed.
His chair is empty, the room is still,
And echoes fill the voids that will.
The dog lay once beside his feet,
A faithful friend, so kind and sweet.
Now silence reigns where joy once grew,
And he whispers, “All I had was you.”
The photo on the mantle shows
A time when laughter freely flowed.
The leash, the toys, now gathered dust,
In solitude, he’s lost in trust.
The park we’d walk, the paths we’d trace,
Are empty now, a hollow space.
He recalls the days when skies were blue,
And murmurs softly, “All I had was you.”
Through winter’s chill and summer’s blaze,
His heart holds fast to yesterdays.
Though the world moves on and life renews,
He sits in silence, “All I had was you.”
In dreams, his faithful friend appears,
With wagging tail, and joyful cheers.
Yet morning comes, the shadows strew,
And he sighs again, “All I had was you.”
